Coast/Beach
The safe, sandy beach of Perola da Lagoa is 5 minutes walk or 2 minutes drive away (plenty of parking) with cafes and bars nearby. Windsurfing and sailing on other side of lagoon 30 minutes drive or if booking the sailing club will collect you by boat from the beach accessed from top of street 2 minutes walk away.
The Atlantic coast/beach of Praia del Ray is 5 minutes drive and is lifeguard patrolled.
Golf
World famous golf resort of Praia del Rey 5 minutes drive
New golf development of Bom Sucesso (golf course opening later this year) 3 minutes drive. Please ensure you bring your handicap certificate.
Travel
Lisbon airport is 50 minutes drive south and Porto is 2 hours drive north. A hire car is essential for this area.
Distances
The nearest town of Obidos is 15 minutes drive, This is the a historic medieval walled town and you can walk around the walls. Obidos has several churches, restaurants and is very pretty, try the cherry liqueur in chocolate cups. The nearest banks and supermarket are also in Obidos but larger supermarkets can be found in the busy town of Caldas da Rainha 20 minutes drive. Sao Marthino da Porto is 25 minutes drive and is a lovely harbour with safe sandy beaches, great shops and restaurants.
Further details
Many of the nearby villas are owned by British or Irish families and there is a children's playground in the centre of the development. As Perola is still developing there is some ongoing low-rise construction, i.e. new villas.
