Further details
All local shops in Montijo are well-equipped, inexpensive and shopkeepers charming. The local market is a real 'must'- not to be neglected! Big hypermarkets and Decathlon on outskirts. Numerous banks. All types of shopping in Lisbon. Markets ('feiras' in Portuguese), worth it for inexpensive 'seconds' designer fashion): Carcavelos (Lisbon side) Every Thursday morning, access by river front train from Cais do Sodre - an excursion in its own right! (having crossed the river by ferry too!) Old Cascais Sunday market re-located to behind. Estoril (Adroana) 2nd + 4th Sunday of the month Sintra market - antiques + trinkets 1st + 3rd Sunday Lisbon market 'feira das ladras' (antiques + trinkets) Tuesday mornings. Tram 28 Restaurants: small typical restaurants in Montijo Exciting eating in Lisbon. 'Fado' restaurants Old dock areas 'Docas' in Alcantara district converted into lively eateries and nightlife. Trendy restaurants and nightlife in Bairro alto district. Leisure activities: cultural sightseeing and excitement of Lisbon (not to forget tram 28) Beaches, fishing, boat trips, diving, golf, natural beauty on the south side. The bonus of Montijo is the combination of the 'city break' visiting Lisbon and the nature-beach holiday of Montijo and surrounding area. All areas mentioned are easy access. A typical pattern could be beach or fishing by day and the buzz of Lisbon by night!
