Casa Ceratonia is a restored typical Algarvian cottage situated in a peaceful hamlet off the beaten track and surrounded by orange groves. Ideal for a wind-down, relaxing by the pool or in our half-acre garden, you will soon embrace the easy, slow pace of life. You are well situated for exploring further afield, being just 20 minutes from Albufeira and some of the best beaches, with the historic Moorish town of Silves 20 minutes to the west and the quaint village of Alte 20 minutes to the east. The traditional market town of Messines is 5 minutes north and beyond that stretch mile upon mile of rolling hills and valleys, rivers and lakes, an ideal area for nature lovers, walkers, horseback riders, cyclists or those who like the off-road activities of 4x4 or quad bikes.

Casa Ceratonia (Bed and Breakfast)
|
The self-contained accommodation is situated within the garden of Casa Ceratonia, with its own parking area and entrance. It was converted from the old barns and comprises two inter-connecting rooms.
The first is furnished with a table and chairs, work surface, fridge, kettle and tea and coffee making facilities; this connects to the bedroom which contains a double bed, wardrobe and drawers, chest and bedside tables. A third (single) bed is available if required.
The spacious bathroom comprises a large shower, toilet and wash basin.

Notes on accommodation
Breakfast may be taken in your room, outside the annexe on a terrace or on the covered terrace of our cottage, as you wish. Breakfast of fresh orange juice, a local roll or homemade bread spread with our own honey or marmalade, tea or coffee is included in the price. Larger breakfasts, packed lunches or evening meals can be provided by arrangement. Each room has fly screens on all windows and a heater. Use of washing machine if required. BBQ available on request. Bed linen and bath towels provided. Please supply your own swimming towels.
This is a smoking, pet and child-friendly zone!
Outside
The annex is situated in a private landscaped area within our own garden. Guests are welcome to wander around our own 'orange-grove garden' and make use of the several patio areas, garden benches, picnic table, pool-side loungers and take a cooling dip in our plunge pool. We can either keep out of your way or socialise and offer advice on where to go and what to see, as you prefer. There is a small general store in the village for buying essentials and a wide choice of cafes, snack bars and restaurants within 5 minutes drive.
Coast/Beach
The Algarve beaches vary from small secluded coves hidden by view from the stunning sandstone cliffs to vast, long, flat expanses of sand stretching as far as the eye can see. The nearest are about 20 minutes drive away.
Golf
There are golf courses across the Algarve from 20 minutes away at Silves to the famous Vale do Lobo courses which are 40 minutes drive away.
Special interest holidays
We offer day sails from Albufeira marina on board our sailing yacht, guided walks or 4 x 4 Landrover Discovery tours of the local area. A variety of pursuits including horseriding, cycling, quad bikes, pilates and yoga are available close by. Whatever your interest we are happy to point you in the right direction!
Travel
Faro airport is 40 minutes drive. A taxi from Faro airport costs around 45 euros. Lisbon airport is two-and-a-half hours' drive. The train from Lisbon takes about the same time and only costs around 30 euros return to Messines. Seville airport is about two-and-a-half hours' drive. Car hire is recommended and can be arranged for you if required. If you are unable to drive we can arrange to collect you from the airport and can provide tours by car to places of interest across the Algarve.
Distances
By car: Sao Bartolomeu de Messines is 5 minutes north, with the Alentejo 30 minutes north. Silves is 20 minutes west, whilst the large port of Lagos is 40 minutes and the westernmost tip of Cape St Vincent is about 1 hour and 20 minutes west. Albufeira is 20 minutes south, with the marina and golf resort of Vilamoura 30 minutes south east. Faro is 40 minutes east and Spain is one hour east.
Booking notes
A sterling deposit of 1 nights' accommodation per person is required to secure a short-term or weekly booking. The balance to be paid in sterling 1 week before arrival, or for last minute bookings on arrival in euros.
