Notes on accommodation
The villa has full air conditioning throughout, but keeps naturally cool with the fully tiled floors and gentle sea breezes.
This villa is particularly suitable for couples and golfers.

Accessibility
The villa is suitable for less able guests with two bedrooms situated on the ground floor.

Outside
The villa has a private south facing terrace complete with private kidney shaped pool measuring 6m x 3m. The pool is 1.1m deep at the shallow end and 1.7m at the deep end.
The patio has wooden garden furniture featuring an extending dining table and 6 chairs, sun parasol and 4 teak sunbeds, complete with soft cushions for sunbathing. A further 2 wooden sunbeds are located on the private upper terrace off the main bedroom upstairs.
A large gas barbecue is available, and you will even find an outside sink on the terrace for the inevitable washing up!

Coast/Beach
This part of the Algarve enjoys 27 km of sandy beaches.
Monte Gordo, 10 minutes by car, has a 12.5 mile (20 km) stretch of shimmering sand, backed by pine forests and citrus orchards.
For water sports enthusiasts, the off-shore lagoons are perfect for sailing, water skiing and windsurfing, while the sea-water temperatures here are the highest in Portugal.

Golf
The villa overlooks the 2nd, 3rd and 4th fairway and greens of the 'Guadiana' course at Castro Marim.
An additional 9 holes have recently been opened (May 2008) to complement the existing 18 holes, making a wonderful addition to the course.
You can now choose which combination of the three nine holes to play - the existing 'Atlantic' and 'Guadiana' courses or the new 'Grouse' course, and Castro Marim offers some of the best value green fees (special rates on Wed. & Sat) in the whole of the Algarve.
Next door to Castro Marim is the newly opened Quinta do Vale golf course designed by Seve Ballesteros, and a further 3 courses are within a 10 minute drive from the villa. These include Quinta da Ria, Quinta da Cima and Benemor.
Further west you can find many more courses including the famous San Lorenzo and Penina Championship courses.
Plenty of interesting challenges, and hiring our private two seater golf buggy will make the golf even more enjoyable on the Castro Marim Golf course.

Special interest holidays
Castro Marim itself has one of the best golf holes in the world. That's according to a book called '1001 golf holes you must play before you die' edited by Jeff Barr. The particular hole that 'must be played' is the 4th on the Atlantic Course - a challenging par 5 hole.
The book describes the course as 'one of the most Easterly courses on the Algarve with good views towards nearby Spain'.
From 1st June 2008 to 15th September 2008 on Wednesdays and Saturdays green fees for 2 players and a buggy 80 Euros. On other days the cost for 18 holes are 1 player - 42 Euros, 1 player + buggy - 66 Euros, 2 players + buggy - 105 Euros and 3 players + 2 buggies - 160 Euros, really good value for the Algarve!
We have our own electric 2 seater buggy which can be hired at very reasonable cost, priced according to your stay, with a minimum of £20.00 for one day.
As most golfers know the Algarve is famous for quality golf. There are innumerable courses within easy distance to suit all players.

Travel
The nearest airport is Faro, 40 minutes away from Castro Marim - British Airways, Easyjet, Flybe, BabyBMI and charter companies including ThompsonFly have flights into Faro.
Seville airport in Southern Spain is 1 hour 20 minutes away, (and Ryan Air offer very good deals into Seville from Stanstead).
The port of Santander in Northern Spain is 600 miles distance, and takes approximately 9 hours to drive.
Car hire is recommended to fully enjoy all that this area has to offer.

Distances
The nearest village with several bars and restaurants is Monte Francisco just 5 minutes drive away, next to the larger neighbouring village of Castro Marim.
A wider selection of shops, bars and restaurants can be found at Vila Real de Santo Antonio along with the nearest supermarket.
The seaside town of Monte Gordo has an array of beachside bars and cafes and even a casino on the promenade.
Castro Marim Golf and Country Club has its own beachside restaurant at Cabeco.

Further details
The nearest supermarket, 'Intermarche', is situated in Vila Real de Santo Antonio, 10 minutes drive away. This town has an array of shops and a daily covered market for fresh produce and locally caught fish. Here you will also find banks and a post office.
Take the motorway over the border into Spain. Ayamonte is just 5 miles away - a delightful Spanish town with a large supermarket, 'Mercadona', along with many shops, bars and restaurants.
All UK registered mobile phones receive excellent reception in this area, and if required, Wi-Fi access is available at Castro Marim golf clubhouse.

Booking notes
We request 30% deposit of the total rental price to secure your booking. Balance payment due 8 weeks before arrival date. Payment in full if less than 8 weeks to arrival date.
£250 security deposit is also required, returned 2 weeks after departure from villa. Payment may be made by cheque, or preferably BACS. And we are able to accept Euros if this is more convenient.
