Casa das Fadas is a traditional Portuguese house built in the beginning of the eighteenth century. It is arranged on three floors and has original features abound; stone fire work in the kitchen and living room, stone pathways, tiled steps and a beautiful wooden ceiling in the lounge. At top of the house, reading room with commanding views of fruit trees and medieval terraces. The charm of the house, is it's private garden full of beautiful flowers and a lemon tree.

Kitchen: Traditional Portuguese kitchen with fire work, wooden furniture; hand painting and a nice window with view to a lemon tree and include fridge, freezer, oven and microwave.
Utility Room: Our top floor room, with a wooden roof and a typical window, with a view to medieval terrace, is very cosy and unusual. Recommended for those who enjoy tranquility.
Living Rooms: 30sq.m lounge with spectacular 2 stone pathways. Very sunny with 2 traditional windows offering fine green views. Double sofa, plus TV. Traditional Portuguese furniture; flowers hand painting.

Accessibility
Situated within the walls of Obidos, access to the house is by foot, although in practice, cars can be parked quite close by (within 100-200m) and closer for loading/unloading. There is stepped access to the property which makes it unsuitable for wheelchairs.

Outside
Lovely garden full of Mediterranean flowers and fruit trees - a uniquely tranquil and private spot. This is the perfect place to relax in the evening and enjoy your meals while sunbathing during the day.

Coast/Beach
Easy access to numerous golden sandy beaches including; Foz de Arelho (8km), Obidos Lagoon (8km) Praia d'el Rey (10km), Sao Martinho (15km). Peniche (20km). Excellent surfing at Peniche. Variety of watersports such as scuba diving, rowing and wind sailing at Obidos Lagoon.

Golf
Golf at Praia d'el Rey, rated as one of the best in Europe, and just 10km away. Peniche (20km) Also Golden Eagle, Rio Maior, a 20 min drive. Numerous other courses within easy reach

Travel
Obidos is easily accessible from Lisbon airport via the new A8 motorway. Journey time by car usually 50 minutes.

Local shops, supermarket, swimming pool, banks and cashpoints all within 1km. Caldhas de Rainha, with daily fresh fruit/veg/fish market and wider choice of shopping 5km.

Further details
Obidos offers a wide choice of friendly bars, cafes, restaurants and gift shops. Once the wedding gift to the Queens of Portugal, Obidos (meaning Citadel) also has a Roman, Moorish and Viking past and is set to become a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk the ramparts with a perimeter of just over 1.5km for the excellent views or visit some of the town's beautiful 17th century churches. Obidos plays host to numerous cultural events throughout the year. Not to be missed are Medieval (Medieval week) in July, Christmas Lights 8 - 31 December and the International Chocolate Festival Feb 14 - 24 2008.
Obidos is famous for its 'ginjinha' (brandy flavoured with morellos). Local handicrafts include hand-painted chinaware, aquarelle and oil paintings, painted calabashes, coloured ceramics and wickerwork-like ceramics. For the more active, the area is ideal for cycling and walking as well as for its water sports.
