The charm of the Alentejo area is its rural simplicity. You will see shepherds with their flocks and the famous black pigs roaming freely in the fields. Acres of rolling plains are home to cork oak and olive trees. You will find peace and quiet, sun and clean air during the day and a blanket of dazzling stars shining down on you at night. Quinta das Pereiras offers you the amenities of our modern world in a setting of a bygone age. Quinta das Pereiras is a three, double, bedroom villa situated in a secluded location surrounded by tree covered hillsides, 6km from the town of Ourique. It is a modern build property and furnished to a high standard in a contemporary style. The grounds (approx 5 acres) and supporting a small lake are a haven for wildlife. It offers a 'get away from it all' experience.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds. However it is possible to rent the villa on a daily basis. For lettings greater than two weeks there is a 10 percent discount. Please note prices are valid until 31 October 2012.

Changeover day
Changeover can be flexible. On the day of arrival the villa is available from 4.00 pm and must be vacated by 10.00 am on the morning of departure unless other arrangements have been made.

Bedrooms: Bedrooms 1 and 2 are spacious, have king size beds and modern furniture. Both have air-conditioning. Bedroom 1 has French doors leading to the patio.
Bedroom 3 has a double bed. All rooms are furnished with style.
Bathrooms: Bedroom 1 has an en-suite bathroom (bath, shower, toilet, bidet and double vanity unit).
Bedrooms 2 and 3 have shared access to a large shower room.(shower, toilet and wash basin).
Kitchen: The large kitchen is bright and equipped with all modern appliances, gas hob, electric oven, microwave, slow cooker, dishwasher and fridge.
Utility Room: The utility room houses a washing machine and large fridge freezer together with cleaning equipment should it be needed.
Living Rooms: Lounge/dining room with comfortable lounge seating and dining table for 6 to 8 people, wood-burner, Sky TV/DVD/CD player and a library of games, books and DVDs for your use. French doors to the patio.

All towels and linen are included in the price. Cleaning at changeover. All heating, hot water, electricity and gas is included in the price. Heating is supplied by wood burner and electric heaters. Fans are also supplied.

Notes on accommodation
The villa is five years old and furnished to a high standard. High ceilings and cooling fans help to keep the villa cool in the summer.
There are free standing heaters for winter use. The lounge has a log burning stove. The kitchen is fully equipped re utensils - as this is our home and not just a rental villa.
Smoking is not permitted in the villa but ashtrays are provided outside. (It must be stressed that great care should be taken by smokers because of the high risk of fire.)
Sorry - no pets.

Not adapted for wheelchairs.

Outside
Outside you will find two large covered patio areas with two dining tables and eight chairs providing shaded areas throughout the day. A sun terrace with six sun loungers and occasional tables. A swimming pool (4m x 8m) with easy access steps into the pool. A gas BBQ on the sun terrace. steps lead from the main patio to a lower garden area. Extensive grounds with a small lake, cork oak and olive trees and a terraced garden. Pool is maintained once a week.

Coast/Beach
South, the Algarve coast (eg Portimao) is about a 50 minute drive. This coastline boasts beautiful beaches, lots of restaurants and entertainment. The west coast (eg Milfontes) is also about a 50 minute drive. This coastline has long, sandy, quiet and romantic beaches. Both coastlines offer wonderful coastal walks as well as glorious swimming.

Golf
The Algarve has many golf courses - about an hours drive away. Details can be found at the villa.

Special interest holidays
The area is a bird-watchers paradise with many species including Storks and the Great Bustards. There are two well known areas close by for bird life - the Castro Verde plains and the Pera marshes both within easy driving distance.
Fishing is popular at the nearby reservoir, Barragen do Monte da Rocha.

Travel
A car is essential. The villa is approx one hour drive from Faro airport and two hour drive from Lisbon airport. The motorways are excellent and the national roads are generally very good. Access to the villa is only 1km on a minor road from the main IC1 Faro-Lisbon road.

Distances
Ourique is just 6km away, a quaint Alentejan town with supermarkets, shops, restaurants, health clinic, library and free internet access. Visit the site of the old castle and take in the stunning views. There are other interesting nearby towns and villages with pretty houses, markets and local crafts. Castro Verde famous for it's remarkable church, Beja for it's Moorish castle and Evora for it's Roman ruins.

Further details
Eating out is cheap. There are local bars/restaurants 1.5 km from the villa that serve traditional Portuguese cooking made with local produce. Try the Porco Preto (black pig) which is considered a delicacy or BBQ chicken 'frango' or the numerous cheeses served with local bread all accompanied by Alentejan wines.

Booking notes
Booking can be made by phone, email or mail. A 20% non refundable deposit is required on booking. Full payment is required 8 weeks before departure, together with a refundable (conditional of no damages) inventory deposit of £100.
