The Villa is in the most Northern part of Portugal, Minho, which is hilly and beautifully green. A place to get away from stressful life, to relax and regain energy. The private pool is quite large with big relaxation area and built-in BBQ. In addition, the cosy and comfortable interiors with central heating and lounge with fireplace make it perfect for renting during winter. The local towns such as Vila Nova de Cerveira, Valença (fortified town), Caminha and Ponte de Lima are picturesque and interesting. Just a few minutes you can go from the river to coast, green countryside to historical towns, golf to surfing and to enjoy with excellent food and wine. Just by crossing the bridge you will be in Spain with a whole different culture to explore. It is a quiet area but has plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. The villa is about 20 minutes or less by car from a series of beaches and golf course. The Minho River is at walking distance from the property.

Changeover day
Preferred changeover at Saturdays but it is pretty much flexible specially during low season.

Living Rooms: One very large living room with glass view into the garden and pool. Flatscreen TV and Hi-Fi. Second living room with fireplace and leather sofas. Dining room with huge wood table.
Other: Outside eating areas and garden. Full size table tennis with rackets and balls provided.

Towels and linen provided, beds changed weekly, cleaning weekly.

The villa is centrally heated so is suitable for winter lettings and families with children.

Accessibility
Rooms are located on the first floor, so not really suitable for wheelchair users unfortunately.

Outside
The private pool is quite large with big relaxation area and built-in BBQ. The peaceful gardens have many secret corners. In the orchard, during season, apples, lemons, pears, cherries, orange, pruns, nuts are available and you can help yourself to organic fruit. The garden is secure and private. There is garden furniture for 10 with tables and a parasol. The patio runs the length of the building and the parking area is large enough for 4-6 cars and is secure behind high steel gates (remote controlled).

Coast/Beach
This coast has miles of beach with golden sand. It is the Atlantic so there is no shortage of surf spots. The nearest beach is in Caminha about 25 km from the villa, which has a shelterd spot inside the mouth of the beautiful Minho river. The next beach is Moledo which is rather trendy and a few km away Ancora and Afife which are huge and wide-open. To the 'other side', in Spain, Baiona a beach inside of a bay is very popular. There are small bars and restaurants at all the beaches.

Golf
One of the best 18 hole golf courses in North Portugal is about 15 min away in Ponte De Lima.

Travel
BA, TAP & Ryanair fly to Porto airport which is an hour away by car. The motorway is quite empty and goes through the lovely countryside. Ryanair also fly to Santiago de Compostela in Spain which is the same distance from Vila Nova de Cerveira (on motorway). Bilbao and Santander ferry ports are 7hrs drive to the North.

Distances
The villa is a few minutes by car from Vila Nova de Cerveira which is a very nice village, the historic centre and wonderful outdoor Saturday market. Valença (5 min) which is a historic market town with impressive medieval walls and Caminha with its cobbled streets, bars, cafes and restaurants is 20 min away. Viana do Castelo (30 min) and Ponte de Lima (15 min) are the largest local towns and both offer historical interest. Porto and Santiago de Compostela are 1 hour away by motorway.

Further details
A drive into Spain for shopping and site-seeing is very easy from the new bridge at Vila Nova de Cerveira. Porto and Vigo offers some astonishing shopping malls with all the international brands you could hope for under one roof. Of course Porto (1 hour away) is the second capital of Portugal that is famous for its wines, culture and historic sites. Nightlife is very good at beach places such as Caminha and Baiona, during summer. During the year Vigo (30 min away) as a vibrant nightlife.

Please email or phone to check availability. 50% deposit is required to secure the booking. The remainder is payable 4 weeks prior to the start of the holiday. A £150 refundable damage deposit is payable at the same time. Payments made by paypal or by bank transfer.

'We spent 8 days with our 2 boys (1 and 4 years) in the house and had a fantastic time! The house itself is spacious, beautifully decorated, extremely comfortable and well-equipped. Our children loved the garden with lots of space to run around and explore as well as the pool which is very child-friendly and can be watched from the living room or the beautiful, shady terrace.
Our hosts were very helpful with lots of advice and good tips about the area. Even though we were very unlucky with the weather (the rainiest week of the summer so far!) it was fun and relaxing just to be around the house and there were plenty of interesting touristy things and pretty towns within an easy drive.
