Owner profile
About the owner
We are a small family of three. We moved here 4 years ago from the UK in search of a better climate and a less stressful way of life. We love the outdoors, cycling, walking and helping out the locals on their small holdings, harvesting the grapes and corn. We could not think of a better place than here to live. The weather and scenery is fantastic. The local people have made us all so welcome here and always make the time to stop and chat and don't seem to mind our pigeon Portuguese. We feel we have stepped back about 100 years in time and enjoying the quality of life as it should be without the stress and complications of modern day living. We love meeting new people and sharing with them this little part of heaven.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We loved this area which has so much to offer up on the outskirts of the National Park. The Villa is on the outskirts of a small hamlet so we have both the peace and tranquillity of the countryside but yet also close to the cafes and stores so we are not too remote. We are 10 miles equidistant from the two main towns and also both of these towns are on the border to Spain. The countryside is not unlike the west coast of Scotland being quite rugged and green but it is alot warmer, drier and not windy. It is easy to drive to the UK with an 8 hour drive through Spain on beautiful scenic, quiet dual carriageways to Santander and an overnight stay on the ferry to Plymouth/Portsmouth.
Unique benefits of the property
The locals are very friendly and always take the time to chat on the way past to attend their crops and animals. We love looking out over the small fields which surround us and watch the world pass by. We can cycle and walk from our doorstep and spend hours enjoying the countryside and abundant wildlife or we can enjoy the back garden where we have the BBQ and swimming pool and is totally secluded from the front of the villa. We have an excellent butcher shop, open from 8am to 8pm, just up the road ( 10 mins walk) so last minute BBQs are no problem. The local restaurant, run by two Portuguese sisters, is only a 5 minute walk away, serves excellent lunches and dinners at a very reasonable price and are open every day except Sundays.
