Pool cottage is only mins walk away from local bars, restaurants and supermarkets. Santo Estevao is situated only 5kms from picturesque Tavira with many fine 18th Century buildings along with its 37 churches. A Roman bridge links the two parts of the town across the River Gilão. The church of Santa Maria do Castelo is built on the site of a Moorish Mosque and in it is the tombs of Dom Paio Peres Correia and his seven Knights. Its original economic reliance on the fishing industry has now been surpassed due to the change in the migration patterns of the tuna fish. The population is in the region of 20,000 inhabitants supporting a military base whilst the surrounding area is still very rural and undeveloped. This is now changing with opening of three golf courses in the near vicinity. The beach for this town lies past the salt pans and Rio Formosa which can be reached by a ferryboat that takes the visitor to the sandy-bar island known as Ilha de Tavira.

Changeover day
This is flexible, arrivals after 2pm but things can be left earlier. Departures by 10am please.

Outside
Sunbeds and garden furniture are all around the 5m x 10m swimming pool for you to use on the sun patio or under the shaded pergola. Barbecue area is close to marble table under the gazebo for easy dining under the garden lights and night stars, all set in 1.5 acres of landscape grounds.
Coast/Beach
The closest blue flag beach is Pedras del Rai, 5kms away, soft golden sands for miles! Cabanas is a pretty fishing village with an amazing natural lagoon where you can take an aqua taxi boat to one of the most beautifully unspoilt blue flag golden sandy beaches in the Algarve. Cabanas village offers restaurants, bars plus traditional Portuguese cafes which run along the promenade with wonderful lagoon and sea views.

Nearest airport is Faro 25kms, travel details will be provided. Car is recommended.
