An attractive Algarvian village, Guia is about 5km from magnificent beaches and a range of other attractions. Live in the real Portugal. Jardim Paraiso is a small complex boasting beautiful gardens at front and rear. Located on the southern edge of the village, its elevated location provides panoramic views over Guia and the surrounding countryside. Within easy walking distance are shops, banks, restaurants and other, typically Portuguese, village amenities. Stay in our modern apartment with full air con/heating; enjoy the communal pool with gardens; also, the large roof terrace, excellent for sunshine and splendid views. On the second floor of the Jardim Paraiso building, our apartment has 2 air conditioned bedrooms; air conditioned lounge with dining area; Portuguese and satellite TV with VHS/DVD; 2 bathrooms (one en-suite); modern, well equipped kitchen. Overlooking the pool, the rear terrace with furniture faces south; front terrace with furniture is north facing.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds and are all inclusive of all gas, electricity, water etc up to a pre-arranged limit. Excess charges will only apply if the (generous and rarely exceeded!) limits are exceeded.

Changeover day
Changeover days can be flexible although weekends tend to be most popular. We shall be as accommodating as possible!

Accommodation
Bedrooms: Bedroom 1 with double bed and en-suite bathroom.
Bedroom 2 with twin beds.
All bedrooms contain spacious, fitted oak wardrobes.
Bathrooms: En-suite bathroom to bedroom 1 with bath, bidet and shower.
Bathroom 2 with bidet and shower.
Kitchen: Fully fitted, modern kitchen with oven and hob, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, kettle, iron, ironing board and pots, pans, utensils, glasses, cutlery and every item of tableware required.
Living Rooms: Spacious and very comfortable living/dining room with air conditioning/heating. Satellite TV (Sky) and Portuguese TV; VHS/DVD player/recorder; radio/CD player. Sofa and 2 chairs; formal dining table and access to terrace overlooking front gardens.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
Linen and towels (not beach towels) all included. Apartment cleaned prior to your arrival with once a week cleaning service during your stay. Bed linen is changed weekly and fresh towels are also provided with replacements on a weekly basis.

Notes on accommodation
Smoking is permitted only on balconies (ashtrays provided) but not indoors. Should you require any assistance during your stay, a 24 hour (in the event of an emergency) contact telephone number is provided.
Additional equipment designed to make your stay more comfortable includes portable electric radiators, electric fans and a hairdryer. There are also built-in mosquito screens on all windows: fresh air; no bugs!

Accessibility
Located on the second floor of Jardim Paraiso, there are 2, easily managed flights of stairs from the ground floor to the apartment.

Outside
Large, communal pool with adjacent garden area provides comfort for both sun bathing and swimming. Barbecue facilities also available poolside. Large roof terrace provides large additional area for sunbathing (2 sun loungers provided). The large swimming pool (with showers) lies in spacious well maintained gardens which act as a natural suntrap. Plenty of room for sunbathing and relaxation with a substantial, well equipped, barbecue area with power and washing up facilities.
Our apartment has private terraces to the front and rear (both with outdoor furniture) and easy access to the huge roof terrace which, although shared with immediate neighbours, is often deserted. From the roof terrace you have extensive panoramic views over both the village and the surrounding countryside with the sea in the distance. A great place to relax.

Coast/Beach
Some of the best beaches on the Algarve are within a 10 minutes drive from the apartment. As well as the lengthy Praia de Galé (stretching westwards towards Armacao de Pera), with sports facilities snack bar and restaurants, there are many secluded sandy coves with sculptured sandstone cliffs and azure sea. The choice and variety is extensive. For those who like more hustle and bustle, Albufeira is less than 15 mins away with its famous marina, historic old town and even more beaches!

Golf
Over 20 superb golf courses lie within easy driving distance of Guia. The nearby N125 and A22 motorway ensure that they can be reached quickly and easily. Our 'local' course is the recently refurbished Salgados, less than 10 minutes from the apartment. Salgados rates are reasonable on what is a stiff, "water everywhere" challenge, described as having the feel of Florida. Staff and members are very welcoming and friendly; there is also a practice facility and putting green adjacent to the course. Keen golfers come back to the Algarve time after time to enjoy some of the best courses in the world and so many are well within 30 minutes driving time from Guia that you will be spoiled for choice. Fore!

Travel
To fully enjoy you holiday in Guia car hire is recommended. Rates on the Algarve are very competative and there are numerous reputable car hire companies with facilities at Faro airport - less than an hour away. Alternatively we can offer locally arranged private transfers for 39 Euros per party. Guia is easy to find and lies just south of the toll free A22 motorway. The magnificent beaches are less than 10 mins drive away and facilities like Zoomarine and Algarve Shopping are even nearer.

Distances
Given the proximity of the motorway and the quality of the road system most of the western and Central Algarve is less than an hour away. Nearby you will find the superb coastal facilities and beaches. Albufeira is just down the road as is the nearest of the many golf courses. Historical Silves, the hills of Monchique and places of interest like Faro and Vilamoura are within easy reach. Algarve Shopping, the Zoomarine Park and well known water parks are nearby. There is plenty to do!

Further details
Famous for its range of authentic restaurants, all the facilities of Guia are within easy, relaxing, walking distance. With its 27 restaurants (at the last count!) and various bars, Guia is a great place in which to wine and dine. Nearby you will find the Algarve home of Sir Cliff Richard and his famous vineyard. In the village itself is a marvellous supermarket, newsagents (with UK press) a butchers, bakers, bottle shop, post office, chemists, hairdressers, internet cafe and snack bars. There is a small local market, banks with cash machines and lots more. The medical centre is within 50 yards. Although the village is truly Portuguese, all are made welcome by truly friendly and helpful locals. All the facilities are nearby when needed and, in the meantime, you can simply relax and soak up the sun.

Guia is thought to have existed since Roman times. Its Arab name was Alfontes. However, it is really the later Christian links which are the strongest. The site of the Chapel of Nossa Srª da Guia ia a place where the Virgin Mary is thought, according to local custom, to have appeared. This was great draw for Pilgrims and gave rise to the Guia Fair held annually in September.

The 17th century village church is an interesting building with a simple carved altar, a selection of 17th and 18th century statues and some famous azulejo tile pictures. There are numerous other fine buildings, places of interest and historical sites within easy reach.

Beyond the village are tiny hamlets nestling in green countryside, vineyards and citrus groves. The coast lies to the south and further inland is an interesting hinterland with more villages and hamlets to explore. Well known centres like Lagos, Portimao, Silves (with its Moorish Castle), Albufeira, Faro and Vilamoura are all reached very easily. In the distance you can see the mountains of Monchique with its famous spa. In fact, the best that the Algarve has to offer is all less than one hour away.
