Casa Ananda is the ideal place for your summer holiday rental on the Silver Coast. This extremely well equipped and comfortable house is in a peaceful location in the centre of a friendly village with gorgeous views over the beautiful bay of Sao Martinho do Porto, which is less than 10 minutes away. The village has a well stocked shop, a cafe/bakery, a bar and a restaurant all within walking distance. There are many more restaurants within a short drive. If you want a stay in the 'real Portugal' yet close to all the area's many attractions, then this is the place for you. We have tried to create a really comfortable atmosphere at Casa Ananda, and you will find everything you need for a relaxing holiday in the sun. The house sleeps six, in three bedrooms, two of which have their own balconies. No queuing for the bathroom - there are three, including one luxury en-suite. You will also find a well equipped kitchen and outside, a barbecue and large private patio area with sun loungers

Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds.
Short breaks (3 nights or more) are usually available.
We discount prices for bookings of two weeks or more - and if you want to rent for a month or longer we can offer much larger discounts. Contact us for details.
Please note that for new bookings we require a fully refundable security deposit of £200 (250 Euros) to be paid with the final balance for your holiday. The deposit will be refunded to directly to you within one week.

Changeover day
Some flexibility in changeover day, dependant on other bookings. Short breaks considered out of season. Please vacate the property by 10am on your day of departure, so that we can prepare the house for any incoming guests. Arrival anytime after 3pm.

Kitchen: 5-ring gas hob with wok burner, separate electric fan oven, microwave, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, espresso coffee machine and food processor.
Living Rooms: Lounge with recuperador log burner (some logs provided), comfortable sofas and chairs for six, and a large HD television with home cinema, DVD and surround sound. The large kitchen-dining room has an antique pine dresser and a huge eight foot table.
Other: There is a large secure garage beneath the house, with plenty of space for 2 cars and endless storage space.

linen/maid service:
Linen and towels for use in the house included (please bring your own beach towels) and are exchanged weekly. The house will be cleaned ready for your arrival; additional cleaning can be arranged during your stay at extra cost.

Notes on accommodation
There is partial air-conditioning (mobile unit) and extra heaters are provided for colder days. Casa Ananda is a no smoking property, and smoking is not allowed anywhere inside the house. Thankyou for your understanding!

Accessibility
There are several steps up to the front door of the house, access would be difficult for an unaccompanied disabled visitor.

Outside
Outside, to the rear of the house there is a large terrace, with a built in barbeque, and also a hardwood table and chairs for eating out on those hot summer days.

Coast/Beach
Casa Ananda is in the centre of a village less than ten minutes away from the beautiful sandy beach at São Martinho do Porto, which is situated in an amazing horseshoe shaped bay that provides safe and calm water for bathing, a rarity on the Atlantic coast. There are many other wonderful beaches within a few minutes drive.

Travel
We are only an hour from Lisbon airport on the new A8 motorway; and just over two from Porto. Lisbon, Porto and Faro are all served by low-cost airlines. For car hire contact owner for further information. If you don't want to drive from the airport, there is an excellent bus service from Lisbon's Sete Rios bus station direct to Caldas da Rainha, from where you can hire a car with Europcar. You can also get door to door transfers from the airport with a chauffeur driven car.

Distances
In the centre of a village less than ten minutes away from São Martinho do Porto, with the larger towns of Caldas da Rainha and Alcobaça within twenty minutes. There is a weekly market at Nazare (20km). There are endless opportunities for sightseeing, including the monastery at Alcobaça, the medieval town of Obidos, and even a day in Lisbon is possible - take the train from São Martinho, and leave the car at home!

Further details
All the basics can be bought from the friendly village shop or bakery, both within 100 metres of the house, (Helena, the shop owner speaks excellent English and is willing to help with booking taxis, or any other local information you might need). The local Pasteleria and Bakery serves the most amazing coffee and the cakes are to be strictly avoided for those on a diet! Just a short walk away, the Tres Torres restaurant serves delicious and very reasonably priced food (the seafood soup is gorgeous!) every evening. São Martinho has a wide variety of shops, restaurants and bars. The larger towns of Caldas da Rainha and Alcobaça are within an easy 20 minute drive. There is a weekly market at Nazare (20km) on Fridays.

Booking notes
A 25% non refundable deposit is required to secure the property, with the balance payable eight weeks before arrival. For late bookings the full cost is payable at the time of booking. Payment by sterling cheque or direct bank transfer in Sterling or Euro. For late bookings we may be able to arrange payment via Paypal.

August 2011: "Thanks for the prompt repayment of the security deposit. Much appreciated.We had a great time at Casa Ananda. It's a lovely comfortable house and suited us perfectly for our stay. Local people were very friendly and the weather was perfect for us. Not baking hot but hot enough to swim in the sea, drink lots of pavement coffees and have barbecue etc. Joachim was especially friendly and supplied us with tomatoes and pears. In return we made a fuss of Benfico and brought him chews from the town!
Once again, thank you for the use of your home. We had a great time getting to know that little bit of Portugal.

April 2010: "I loved this location, because it is the best of two worlds - local village with really friendly people, as well as a short distance away,(20 mins) from one of the best medieval walled towns ,Obidos. Wonderful place for hand made jewellery and food!

About the owner
I've enjoyed holidays in Portugal ever since I first visited when I was nine years old, and was lucky enough to be taken on an extended tour of the country, visiting many places off the beaten track and leading me to fall in love with the people, the culture, and of course the great weather! I spend most of my holidays on the Silver Coast, but until someone waves the magic wand and lets me retire, most of the time I live and work in Shrewsbury on the Welsh Borders, with my small and very friendly Patterdale terrier Truffle.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
I fell in love with the Silver Coast as soon as I saw the region - simply Gorgeous - and such a well kept secret for so long. I really don't know why everyone raves so much about the Algarve: the Silver Coast has all that in spades, and without the hordes of package tourists as well. It is so easy to get to as well - less than an hour from Lisbon on the Autostrada del Atlantico. I love being so close to Sao Martinho, (which has one of the best beaches in Portugal) right in the middle of a traditional village, surrounded by glorious countryside and with half a dozen World Heritage sites within an hour's drive. If that doesn't grab you, a hard slog of 50 yards or so takes you to the village cafe and patisserie, where you can add the inches with some mind bogglingly calorific cakes. :)

Unique benefits of the property
Casa Ananda is situated in the heart of a lovely traditional Portuguese village, seemingly a million miles away from the packed resorts and impersonality of so many trips to the *Med*, but in reality less than ten minutes away from Sao Martinho, some of the best beaches in Portugal, and all the facilities you would expect or need for a great holiday in the sun. If you don't want to drive, the village has everything you need within a minute from the house - shop, bar, and cafe - and there is a great restaurant within walking distance. Casal Pardo is a lovely village, the neighbours are so friendly, and I'm sure you will really enjoy staying at Casa Ananda. I do!
