Notes on prices
Prices are for the property in UK Pounds. After 7 nights the rates reduce to £50 per couple per night (£58 July and August). Single occupancy of double rooms attracts a 20% discount. Attractive discounts are available for groups taking four or more rooms for the same period (please contact the owners for further details).

Changeover day
Booking days are flexible to suit our guests requirements (subject to availability). Arrival is normally from 3.30pm and departure by 10.30am, however we can occasionally adjust these times to some degree if required and requested in advance.

Zororo (Sleeps10, 5 Bedrooms)

Five individually furnished en-suite double bedrooms, air-conditioned and centrally heated, each with built-in wardrobes, balcony and views over the river valley or forest. Contemporary furniture sourced from Italy or locally handmade, solid wood or marble floors. Large dining room and seperate guest’s living room with TV, DVD, UK stations satellite, etc. Huge games room including snooker/pool, table football, books, games, LCD TV, DVDs, music centre, etc. Second kitchen for guests use, including washing machine and dryer.

Notes on accommodation
Your stay includes a full Portuguese breakfast, complementary soft drinks, tea, coffee, or spring water during the day, and a mouth-watering three course evening meal if required, mixing regional specialties with contemporary cuisine, taken in company with the hosts and fellow guests. Aperitifs, wine, coffee, liquors, etc complete the experience.

Accessibility
Access to the bedrooms involves a wide spiral staircase with two handrails, as does the games room. The main entrance has three low steps up, the swimming pool two steps down, although there is a gentle slope outside between floors one and two. There are additional toilets on the lower and middle floors, as well as by the pool.

Outside
The gardens contain our new 12m spring water swimming pool, with traditional hand laid mosaic sun bathing platform, grassed area, sun loungers and umbrellas. The hard surface tennis court is fully fenced and rackets, balls, etc are provided. There is also a five-a-side football pitch and basket ball facility on the same area. Our two hectare vineyard lays below, whilst the adega (for making our wine and liquer) is behind the pool. There is a large barbeque outside the guests kitchen, with a patio and grassed area featuring quality outdoor furniture and marbled dining table for up to 12 guests. Orange, lemon, nectarine, walnut and kiwi trees fill the remaining space.There is secure parking for up to 5 cars.

Coast/Beach
Portugal's famous Silver Coast is an 85 minute drive away, where you will find many kilometres of wide sandy beaches, backed by dunes and pine forests. Most of these are only rarely visited, even on Summer weekends, so you are likely to have plenty of peace and quiet. Figueiro da Foz offers the chance to enjoy the facilities of a traditional seaside resort, whilst Aveiro has been described as 'the Venice of Portugal' (although the residents prefer to claim that Venice is the Aveiro of Italy!).

Travel
Porto is the nearest International airport, with a drive time of a little less than 2 hours, whilst Lisbon can be easily reached in two and a half, both on the main motorway (A1). A hire car is usually considered essential to take full advantage of the natural beauty of what is a very undeveloped area for tourism. Alternatively, high speed 'leaning' trains connect both cities to Coimbra (30 minutes from Zororo), while a local train/taxi can provide the remaining link to our Guesthouse.

Distances
The nearest village with shops and cafes is a pleasant and level 5 minute walk, with the ancient town of Gois less than 10 minutes by car, whilst Coimbra (Portugal's University City and former capital) is half an hour away by road, or 50 minutes by local train. A river beach, with cafe/bar, is 12 minutes on foot, while we are surrounded by stunning wooded valleys. Conimbraga, Portugal's premier Roman site, is a 40 minutes drive and the Serra de Estrela National Park is around 90 minutes away.

Further details
A short walk will take you to one of the least developed and truly Portuguese villages in the valley, where you will find a number of cafes and a bar, a church, small but friendly supermarket and a few shops, plus an ATM , post office and garage (of sorts!).
In Gois, a local company provides organised adventure and nature excursions into the surrounding area, including hill and mountain climbing, cycling, and canoeing trips. Also here is a well known 'praia fluvial' (river beach), complete with a sandy island, small eaterie and bar, pontoon and seasonal weekend entertainment. There are 3 others in the area, each with a particular attraction.

The hills, valleys and mountains of the region cry out to be explored....the views have been described as similar to the countryside of Scotland or Cornwall at there best, but with sunshine and fewer people. Slate built villages, many only connected by unmade roads and without electricity until recently, lay dotted around the valley sides.

Take time to just choose a road and just follow it...inevitably you will be delighted with the scenery, greenery and the views.

There is a booking form on our website, or you may call us. Deposits are £100 per room booked (£200 during high season). Payment may be made by money transfer or cheque in either Sterling or the Euro equivalent. The balance is due 14 days before the initial room occupancy.
