This four bedroom 'holiday beach villa' is a few paces from the laguna, whilst the main Atlantic beach is just 5 minutes walk. Accommodation includes 3 double bedrooms and one bunk bedroom. The spacious lounge/dining/kitchen area has everything for 8 guests to enjoy this island retreat! The front patio is an extension to the living area with traditional Portuguese outside dining, built in BBQ, and lots of shade to keep cool, even during the heat of day. Live island life like the locals! The rear patio at the back is a sun trap with sun loungers. You won't find the locals out in the noon-day sun, - but you are on holiday so enjoy every moment. If the sun gets too hot, nip down to the laguna for a quick dip!

Accessibility
The house is all on one level, making the villa suitable for elderly or those with limited mobility, but is not designed to support wheelchairs.
Outside
The Portuguese live outside during the summer months, and the front patio is perfect for this. The dining area has patio furniture for 8, plenty of space for children to play, and there is an in-built barbecue. Local fresh fish from Olhao are perfect for the BBQ, or maybe a steak, or just light the BBQ for that 'outdoors holiday feeling'. Sun worshippers will prefer the lagoon facing part of the property. The locals may consider you loco, but (with suitable protection) the sun is the sun, so enjoy! One two person kayak is kept in the beach garden shed(life preservers included) and the lagoon is just 50 yards away. The lagoon includes a large tidal area, popular for kayaking, fishing, and 'messing about in boats'. Just beyond the lagoon is the nearest beach, whilst the main Atlantic beach is very close. About 5 minutes walking gets you to the beach, but being 9 kilometres long you can enjoy a much longer jaunt than that. Oh yes, there is another beach at the Ferry Landing!
Coast/Beach
The main Atlantic beach is just 5 minutes walk, a very spacious and uncrowded beach 9 kilometres long. Sunloungers (with or without sunshades) can be hired, and the beach has free toilet facilities and a bar which also provides simple food. The ferry terminal is on the inland side of the island (again 5 minutes walk from the villa), with more bars, restaurants, and its own popular beach. The laguna is seconds from the villa - here you can kayak or fish or enjoy yet another beach!
Golf
Portugal is famous for its golf courses, and the Algarve is the jewel of Portugal's golfing crown. Armona Island is a National Park, so golfing is not available on the island, but numerous courses are located on the mainland.
Travel
The closest airport is Faro (15 minutes taxi ride, approx 20 euros to the Ferry Terminal).
Water Ferry to Armona Island from Olhao takes 15 minutes, and the ferry leaves approx each hour in high season. Prices are very reasonable, just over one euro per person. Water Taxi to Olhao is fun, and costs approx 15 euros.
Car rental is possible, but there are no cars on Armona Island so why not chill on the island, and take the ferry or water taxi.
Distances
Armona Island has its own shops, bars, restaurants, and of course many beaches. Everything is a short walk away. Olhao is a short Ferry ride away, and has great markets and more nightlife (take the Water Taxi back if late).
Faro is 15 minute drive from Olhao, and there are also ferry rides available to other neighbouring islands.
Further details
Armona has 5 restaurants in high season and 2 main shops with a few fruit and veg stalls. These are supplemented by the large fresh fruit, veg, fish and meat market in mainland Olhao, plus many more restaurants. Local banks and cash machines are located in Olhao, as are some chic boutiques. Faro is 15 minutes away, and is the largest city in the area. The Algarve boasts many golf courses and resorts, so happy exploring!
