Quintinha dos Cedros is a newly built house situated on the slopes of Monte de Vez. The property overlooks the village of Espinhal with superb views of the Serra do Espinhal. The house is set in woodland and olive groves on a quiet lane approximately 3 kilometers from the picturesque town of Penela.

Changeover day
Changeover day is normally Saturday in high season but can be negotiated in low season. The house will be available from 5pm on day of arrival and is to be vacated by 10.00am on the day of departure.

Kitchen: Fully equipped large kitchen diner with double sink unit, ceramic hob/oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster and kettle. All cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery etc.
Utility Room: Washing machine in attached garage.
Living Rooms: Large comfortable lounge with 2 settees, 2 easy chairs, large coffee table, 32" flat screen TV, DVD player with a selection of DVDs and books.
The dining area seats 6.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
Towels, for use in the house, and bedlinen are included. For longer stays than 1 week cleaning and fresh linen will be provided after the first week.

 

Notes on accommodation
All rooms are fitted with ceiling fans and traditional wood ceilings.
All the bedrooms open onto the upstairs balcony. The living room and dining area open onto the downstairs veranda which has direct access to the gardens.
Central heating for winter use and an open fireplace in the living room.
We have a strict No Smoking policy in the house.

Accessibility
All bedrooms are on the first floor. Not suitable for wheelchair users.

Outside
The garden terrace includes a large (6 person) Luxury Hot Spa suitable for year round use. A hardwood table and chairs are provided for outdoor eating. Sun loungers are provided.
The garden opens onto woodland which slopes down the valley.

Coast/Beach
The Silver Coast at Figuera de Foz, with its beautiful uncrowded beaches, is an easy 50 minute drive away. There are many unspoilt seaside towns along the coast with long sandy beaches. There is good surfing in the Atlantic rollers.
Locally, there is an excellent fluvial beach, with safe swimming, a restaurant and picnic area with BBQ facilities, in the mountains at Louçainha about 15 minutes drive away.

Travel
The property is equidistant from both Lisbon and Porto airports at approximately two hours drive, mainly on motorways. Both cities have modern international airports served by a selection of budget and scheduled airlines. Use of a car is essential.
The nearest intercity rail stations are at Coimbra and Pombal with frequent fast services to both Lisbon and Porto.

Distances
Penela, the nearest town, with its historic castle and churches is 3 kilometers. It has all necessary facilities including supermarket, banks with ATMs, Post Office, shops and restaurants.
Coimbra, at 30 kilometers, is very historic with Portugal's oldest university dominating the skyline. The city centre has many sights to explore along its narrow paved streets. There are many shops and restaurants with two modern shopping malls, one of which affords panoramic views of the city and river.

Further details
There are many attractions and much to see and do in this area of Portugal, including hill walking, canoeing, sightseeing and bird watching. For those interested in matters Roman, Conimbriga, Portugal's most extensively excavated Roman remains and Rabacal, with its famous cheese, are close by.
Tomar with its charming old streets is overlooked by the Convento de Cristo, founded in 1162 by the Knights Templar.
