New luxury villa situated close to the beach of Salir do Porto and just 15 minutes along the boardwalk to the beautiful bay of Sao Martinho do Porto. The house is within walking distance of several restaurants, shops, and bars, and the new lido pool which will open in 2009 in Salir. It has beautiful views of the bay and the surrounding cliffs and forest areas. The area is surrounded by many famous historic places to visit such as Foz do Arelho and Bom Successo (lagoon and surf beach) Nazare, Peniche, Obidos (castle and walled city) and Caldas da Rainha.

Notes on accommodation
Please note we have a no smoking policy for the villa. This is an ideal holiday venue for families as the villa is totally walled and gated, and there is minimal traffic on the road. For those cooler months, there is a supply of logs for the multi-fuel burner which also blows warm air throughout the house as well as having central heating.

Accessibility
There are several steps to the front door.
Bedroom 4/2nd reception is on ground floor next to downstairs bathroom.
Outside
The kidney shaped pool is approx 7m x 3m. It is 1.7m at its deepest point with steps at the 1m shallow end. It sits in a large garden with sunbathing and play space. Sun loungers and patio furniture are available along with a brick built barbecue/sink area.
Coast/Beach
Salir do Porto beach is at the foot of the village with an incredible sandbank and boardwalk. Sao Martinho do Porto with its' safe and sheltered sweeping beach is a continuation of Salir do Porto's beach/boardwalk. Obidos Lagoon with some wonderful views is less than 10 minutes by car. Nazare offers a lively town and is also less than 15 minutes by car. Peniche or Baleal is famous for windsurfing and can be reached within 30 minutes.
Golf
This area of Portugal is blessed with a number of spectacular golf courses which are within 30 minutes drive. These include the highly acclaimed Praia d'El Rey golf course which was voted "European golf resort of the year 2007" at the "IAGTO Awards".
Others nearby are Golden Eagle near Santarem and Campo Real near Torres Vedros.
There are 2 new courses near Praia d'El Rey opening soon and others planned for construction.
Special interest holidays
There are many outdoor activities that you can enjoy in this area of Portugal; mountain biking, horse riding, water sports, canoeing, pot-holing, hiking, cycling, golf and go-karting (located at Bombarral) 15 mins away on championship course. You can if you wish during your holiday take in the city of Lisbon, go sightseeing or shopping in the Clombo shopping centre and opposite it is Benfica football stadium.
Travel
Lisbon Airport is approximately 50 minutes (Monarch Airlines, Easyjet, Bmi Baby, TAP, BA). Porto Airport is approximately 2 hours (Ryanair). Car Hire or the use of a car is recommended (Arguscarhire, Easy Autos, Holiday Autos). Taxis available approximately 85 euro one way for up to 4 people. Approximately 100 euro for larger taxi when more than 4 people.
Distances
Salir do Porto with beach, cafes, cashpoint, restaurants & village shops. Sao Martinho do Porto offers beach, restaurants, banks, small supermarket and coffee shops - 1 mile. Foz do Arelho has numerous bars, restaurants and the beach - 6 miles. Caldas da Rainha offers daily markets, several large supermarkets and is a bustling town with over 55,000 population - 14 miles.
Further details
Obidos and Caldas da Rainha have many banks, restaurants, bistros, shops, supermarkets and markets for fruit/vegetables and antiques. Obidos uses the town and its walls as an open air theatre and has become famous for its productions and festivals. Other interests are birds, plants, geology, night walks, nature, pretty villages and historic buildings. The Portuguese are very proud of their history and religion. A visit to Nazare (barbecued sardines are a must!) and Fatima would give a good insight to their culture and history. Peniche has an old and new town as well as an aquapark with slides and swimming pools, restaurants and clubs. The ferry visit to Berlengas Islands (visited in spring flower season) and summer for water sports and cave tours. Lisbon, Sintra, Mafra, Torres Vedras, Lourinha and other lovely places are all in good distance for a day tour. Cash point - available in most supermarkets and banks.
