Changeover day
Changeover day is flexible. Every effort is made to accommodate our guests regarding arrival and departure dates. The normal time for vacating the villa is 10.00 a.m with arrivals from 4.00 p.m onwards.

Notes on accommodation
Superior build and insulation keep this (owner/architect designed and built) beamy wooden structure cool in summer and snug in cooler seasons, supplemented by GFCH. A full mezzanine floor over the upper ground floor has further accommodation / utilisation potential.
Accessibility
Access to this split level villa is via a good "tarmac" roadway with wide entrance & multiple parking areas. All rooms (including the 4 bathrooms) are easily accessed from outside by wheelchair, as are several external shady seating & viewing areas.
Internally the levels are connected by a generous wooden staircase.
Outside
Located in the foothills just north of Tavira the villa has a lovely southerly aspect with a chlorine free, mineral water swimming pool 10x5m in a decked area. As you look to the sea, the garden, play areas, BBQ, pool and deck are in view of the villa and of the various covered terraces at upper and lower ground levels. It is a peaceful and relaxing setting, beautifully laid out with your pleasure in mind. Close the electric gates and there is nowhere better to sit and read or just watch or perhaps join the children in fun. You enter into your own private estate into your own private kingdom.
Coast/Beach
Several beautiful beaches in the area are a short 15 minute drive away. Tavira Island is the more lively of these, and is reached by a small ferry boat from Tavira or Quatro Aguas. Barril beach at Santa Luzia is reached either on foot or by miniature train. Both of these are located in the Ria Formosa nature reserve. The several beaches east of Tavira, like Cabanas, Cabeco, Praia Verde & Monte Gordo, are all quite beautiful and have on beach restaurants and refreshment areas.
Golf
Designed by Jack Nicklaus or Seve Ballesteros the newer courses of Monte Rei or Quinta do Vale are just 15 mins away. Closer again are Benamor, Quinta do Rio or Quinta da Cima or the less arduous par-three nine-hole at Colina Verde. 30 mins away are Quinta do Lago, Villamoura, Vale do lobo, etc. The real gain of this location is enjoying the benefits of quiet country living, whilst still at the virtual hub of Algarvian golf and other sporting amenities.

Travel
The villa is some 30 minutes from Faro airport. A further 10 mins takes you into Tavira with all its amenities and a vast choice of good restaurants and charming bars. Tavira is located on the River Gilao, crossed by several pedestrian and one Roman bridge. The town remains authentic and retains its historic charm from the days when it was thriving sea port & fishing centre.
Car hire is recommended for access to beaches, golf and sightseeing locations within the Algarve.
Distances
15 minute stroll to the quaint little village of Santo Estevao with its delightful church, local shops (stocked to the ceiling), chemist, restaurant, cafe and ATM machine.
4 kms and 10 minutes drive take you to beautiful Tavira and 10 minutes drive in the opposite direction will take you to Luz de Tavira and Santa Luzia, a working fishing village with excellent restaurants, in particular great sea food. Spain with its alternative shopping is Less than 20 kilometres distant.
Further details
The Rio Formosa forms a large part of the coastline in this area and is a nature park with attractive flora and fauna for nature lovers. Several groups in the area promote walks of varying lengths and interests and always welcome new faces. Cycling is good on the quiet back roads around Santo Estevao.
