Accessibility

Outside
The villa has it’s own private garden. The garden patio area has a brick built BBQ and a dining table for 8 people. The private balconies off bedroom 1 & 2 both have furniture for sitting out and enjoying the wonderful weather!
There is shared access to a swimming pool with waterfall, children’s pool and a large sunbathing area. There is also a play area for children.
Coast/Beach
There is a wide selection of beaches in the area. The villa is just a few minutes from the entrance to the beautiful Obidos Lagoon with it’s calm waters ideal for family swimming and water sports. All along the Atlantic coast there are beautiful sandy beaches, some ideal for bathing and others with more Atlantic swell ideal for bodyboarding and surfers alike.
Golf
The area is renowned for its golf courses. Just 10 minutes away is the stunning championship golf course of Praia D’el Rey, rated as the 13th best course in continental Europe by “Golf World” magazine and as number 4 in Portugal. The Campo Real course at Torres Vedras and Quinta do Brincal (Golden Eagle) are both 30 minutes away and are definitely recommended. Other courses in the area include Penha Longa, Quinta da Marinha and Golf do Estoril all within a 60 minutes drive.
Special interest holidays
Apart from the golf there are plenty of other activities available in the area.
Swimming in either the shared pool or from one of the many beaches in the area. A kids favourite is the waterpark at nearby Peniche! Sailing & Wind-surfing at the sailing club at nearby Foz do Arelho, taking advantage of the calm waters of the Óbidos Lagoon. This area of the Atlantic Coast offers some of the best Surfing & Body-boarding in Europe, for beginners right through to those with kamikaze tendencies. The villa has a couple of boogie-boards, and boards & wet-suits can be rented at many shops along the local beach at Baleal. There are also surf schools at the local fishing town at Peniche which offer safe supervised tuition (our 8 & 10 year old girls learned to surf at one of these). The clear waters around the dramatic Berlengas Islands just off the coast of Peniche make this one of the best diving locations in Portugal. There are also local facilities for Horse-riding, Go-karting and Tennis.
Travel
The nearest airport is Lisbon. Car hire is recommended. The villa is situated approx 1 hour by car north of the airport. It is a motorway standard road from the airport to within 4 miles of the house. Easyjet, British Airways, TAP Portuguese airways and Monarch all operate to Lisbon from various UK airports and Aer Lingus operate from Dublin to Lisbon. Alternatively, Porto airport is about 2 hours north of the villa.
Further details
There are many places of interest around the villa. A 15 minute drive to the beautiful medieval walled town of Óbidos, whose narrow cobbled streets are packed with bars and restaurants, shops selling local crafts and wines, beautiful churches and pretty white houses with terracotta roofs, overflowing with vivid flowers. The town hosts numerous events during the year, including classic and popular music concerts, the Annual Medieval Fare and Chocolate Festival.
After a further 5 minutes north you arrive at the market town of Caldas da Rainha with its mixture of modern shops and it’s daily open air vegetable markets.
20 minutes to the south is the fishing town of Peniche, with it’s fortress guarding the harbour and a multitude of fish restaurants offering freshly caught seafood at great prices.
Catch a ferry from Peniche and explore the unspoilt Berlanga Islands, just 10km offshore, and consisting of three tiny islands surrounded by clear waters full of shipwrecks. In the 16th century there was a monastery here, now a nature reserve the inhabitants are thousands of nesting seabirds (especially guillemots). If your prone to sickness choose your day carefully - the crossing to the islands can be a bit lively!
And of course, the beautiful city of Lisbon is well worth a visit.
