The cottage is situated on the edge of the small village of Mouronho. This typical Portuguese village is surrounded by pine and eucalyptus forests and has many lovely walks. There is a small local café/supermarket, butchers, a small clothes shop, post office, a chemist and doctors surgery, all within 5 minutes walking distance of the cottage. There is also a local social club where you can play pool, ping pong, table football and enjoy a drink with the locals.

Prices are for the property per week in euros.
Bookings from June to September are for a minimum of 1 week. During the winter October - May booking periods are more flexible - please ask. A welcome pack is provided. wood for the open fire is not provided but can be bought locally if needed. Discount applies to long term lets and repeat bookings.

Outside
The balcony to the side of the house with far reaching mountain views and is perfect for dining and cooking alfresco on the BBQ. There is also a large garden with a small dip pool, an area for sunbathing and enough space for children to play.
Coast/Beach
Within a 90 minute drive you can reach the sandy beaches of Figueria da foz and Mira.
Travel
Porto airport 2 hours drive. Lisbon airport 3 hours drive. Coimbra B train station 40 mins drive. A car is essential.
Distances
Within a 5 minute drive of the cottage there are typical Portuguese restaurants serving the local cuisine. The river beach at Secarias on the picturesque mountain river Alva has areas for fishing, swimming, sunbathing and also you can hire pedaloes and canoes.
Within a 15 min drive you can reach the lakes of the river Mondego. Here there are also restaurants with a small lake marina where you can hire a pleasure boat to take you around the lake and you can also water-ski or jet-ski here.
Further details
There are many other places to explore. The town of Arganil 10 min drive has a typical Portuguese market every Thursday where you can buy local produce at an affordable price. The town of Tabua 20 min drive has basic shops an internet café, large supermarkets and every Sunday morning has a farmers market. The pretty town of Coja 20 min drive has a river beach which is always popular with families. The old capital city, Coimbra, now a university city has a wonderful ambiance with pavement cafes and river bars. For the serious shopper there are two modern shopping malls and many boutiques in the cobbled streets of the old town.
There are many more places to visit and things to do, too many to mention here. We are available to offer our local knowledge to ensure you gain the most benefit from this magical area.

After reservation by email or phone we would require a deposit to secure your booking unless prior arrangements have been made. We do not except credit/debit cards. The outstanding amount needs to be paid on arrival in Sterling or euros.
