This 1st floor apartment is situated in the Castle area of the city and is ideal for anyone who wishes to be within easy reach of the many attractions that Lisbon has to offer and, at the same time, experience local life. 2 minutes from downtown 'Baixa' shopping area and located on the slope up to the castle. Perfectly placed for restaurants, museums and all public transport. There is a quiet, private, patio garden for outdoor eating and relaxation in the shade of an orange and lemon tree. The apartment is always scrupulously clean and ready with your first bottle of Portuguese wine, bread, cheese and fruit. Wireless internet now installed for you to use with your own lap top / net book.

Notes on accommodation
The apartment is well furnished with wooden or marble floors and stripped wood doors and cupboards. The kitchen has a large fridge/freezer, microwave, gas cooker and diswasher. Washing machine and tumble dryer in utility area. Our English speaking housekeeper and family live in the same building and is on hand to help you at anytime.

Accessibility
We are located on the first floor without a lift so our apartment is not suitable for those with mobility problems.

Outside
It is very unusual to have gardens in Lisbon and this leafy area has been well used over the years as an enjoyable outdoor dining room with a view from one end over the city. We have recently added a gas barbecue so that you can make the most of your alfresco dining experience.

Coast/Beach
A variety of beaches exist within half an hour of the flat.

Travel
The apartment is easily accessed from Lisbon airport by taxi, taking about 15/20 minutes and costing less than 15 Euros. We can often arrange to have guests collected - please enquire.

Booking notes
A deposit of 30% will secure the reservation. Full payment should be made a month prior to occupancy. Payment can be made using a British cheque or international bank transfer.

Dear Carole and Ken,

We had a very good holiday in Portugal, and enjoyed staying in your Lisbon apartment. The setting and locality suited us very well. It was fun to pick out ’our’ tree, street and building from various view points. Thank-you for making it all work so smoothly.

The welcome pack of groceries and having a lift to the airport on leaving were very helpful. Also it is thoughtful to supply washing-up liquid, salt etc as buying them for week’s stay is irritating.

"We could not have been better than in Carol’s flat in Lisbon. the appartment is not only greatly located, next to the Castelo san Giorgio, it is also very well equipped, spacious and has everything you might need. You feel immediately at home and the sunny terrace with its fruit trees and plants is so agreeable that you might find difficult to leave it!

About the owner
We have lived in Portugal for the past 30 years and our Lisbon apartment was our family home until 15 years ago. Nowadays we live and teach at a university in the Alentejo province but regularly visit Lisbon for a shot of culture. We're always happy to return to the tranquility and beauty of the Alentejo. We have our own home here as well as Pomar Velho. It's a great place for children to play and explore, fantastic for family walks and picnics, and there are some beautiful villages to visit. Eating out is easy and inexpensive - genuine food, not something pulled out the freezer!

Year purchased: 1980's

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We lived in this apartment for 15 years whilst working in Lisbon. We chose it because of its central yet quiet location and the very rare advantage of an outside space which our young children made the most of. We had some great times there and it was always felt like a haven after the busy Lisbon streets.
