This spacious 3 bedroom semi-detached villa has a private pool for the exclusive use of our guests. It was completed in 2008 and provides everything you would want for a fabulous holiday on the Silver Coast with its spectacular coastline and countryside. This small development of just 5 privately owned villas is walled and gated and located along a quiet country lane on the edge of Alfeizerao. It offers a peaceful setting with acres of apple orchards to the front and pine trees screening the back garden and pool. The delightful bay at Sao Martinho do Porto is just 3km away with a newly built promenade, safe bathing for children and plenty of local bars and restaurants. The heritage cultural sites of Obidos, Batalha and Fatima are within easy reach. Excellent international golf courses are just half an hours drive. Lisbon is within easy reach by bus. Friday or Saturday changeover days are preferred but these can be negotiated. Arrival after 4pm, departure before 10am.

Kitchen: Large luxury kitchen overlooking rear garden and pool. Fitted with touch control ceramic hob, oven, extractor fan, microwave, toaster, dishwasher, fridge freezer, kettle, coffee percolator. Kitchen table and chairs.
Living Rooms: Spacious living room with patio doors opening onto the front with veranda. Two large leather sofas and armchair, feature fireplace, flat screen TV with Freeview, DVD, CD player. Dining area seating 6, small library of books, games, CDs and DVDs.
Other: Ample parking for cars to the side of the property and an intercom system between the villa and the electric gates.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
Rental includes provision of towels and bedlinen. The house is professionally cleaned on the departure of guests. Any extra cleaning or laundry change to be paid for by clients direct with our agent.

 

Notes on accommodation
Please note we have a non smoking policy for the villa. This is an ideal holiday venue for families as the development is totally walled and gated and there is minimal traffic on the lane. If required there is a wood burning stove in the sitting room which convects warm air throughout the house and portable oil filled radiators are also in each of the bedrooms. There are electrically operated blinds throughout the villa which keep the house cool in the summer months and are an added security. Sorry, no pets.

Accessibility
There is just one step up from the parking area to the house and one of the double bedrooms is downstairs and accessible through patio doors. There is also a downstairs wc and shower room.

Outside
The pool is 8m x 4.5m and is 1.8m at its deepest point with roman steps at the 1m shallow end. It sits in a large, tiled landscaped garden with plenty of sunbathing and play space. Sun loungers and patio furniture are provided along with a brick built barbecue. A solar cover is fitted to the pool which keeps it clean and warm and is easily rolled up. The whole development is set in a pine wooded area which provides a tranquil, private setting and none of the properties in the development are overlooked.

Coast/Beach
Small seaside town of Sao Martinho do Porto (safe beaches, restaurants, bars) 3 minutes drive. Foz do Arelho (fabulous Obidos Lagoon/water sports, beach side bars) 15 minutes drive. Nazare (Surfing centre, water park, tennis courts, shopping, restaurants) 15 minutes drive. Peniche/Baleal (fish restaurants, surfing, sailing and diving) 20 minutes drive. Serra do Salgado (sun bathing) 10 minutes drive along cliff top.

Golf
This area of Portugal is blessed with a number of spectacular golf courses which are within 20-30 minutes drive. These include Praia d'El Ray just along the coast; Bom Successo, Golden Eagle near Santarem and Campo Real near Torres Vedros.

Travel
Lisbon Airport is about 1 hours drive along the A8 motorway (easy directions provided). EasyJet, Monarch, BMI Baby, TAP and BA fly into Lisbon. Porto Airport is approximately 2 hours drive. (Ryanair, TAP). A car is essential to appreciate this unspoilt area of Portugal.

Alfeizerao (cafes, shops and market - 10 minutes walk). Casal da Ponte (small bars - 2 minutes walk). Sao Martinho Do Porto (Beaches, Supermarkets -5 minutes drive). Alcabaca (Monastery -30 minutes drive). Fatima (Monastery -50 minutes drive). Obidos (Medieval walled town -20 minutes drive). Caldas Da Rainha (nearest large town -10 minutes drive).

Further details
Alfeizerao is a short walk away and has a fresh bread/cakes shop and a mini-market on the main street along with a bank (ATM), chemist, post office small bars, cafes, and numerous other shops that serve the small rural community. The lovely seaside town of Sao Martinho do Porto now has a wonderful promenade around the whole of the Bay, with the old part of the town at one end sweeping right around to the new boardwalk across the sand dunes and a newly completed Lido at the southern end of the Bay. A very safe beach for children - of all ages! The Atlantic rollers provide brilliant surfing and other water sports along the coast. Head into the hills for spectacular walking country and horse riding. Explore the amazing heritage sites of Obidos, Alcobaca, Fatima and Batalha close by. A new Intermarche supermarket has opened up in St Martinho and all the major supermarkets (Le Clerc, Intermarche, Aldi, Modelo) are at Caldas da Rainha (well signposted) as well as a daily market selling fruit, vegetables, cheeses.

The villa was fabulous, a real home from home and we loved everything about Portugal, including the people. The kids have worn out the pool and spent hours body boarding in the sea at Baleal. About the owner
The Pett family live in a small village in the Lincolnshire Wolds. We both work for local government, have grown up children and five fantastic grandchildren. We were both born and brought up in central London but over the years we have found that the further north we go the better we like it. We have settled in rural Lincolnshire and just love the space, big skies, beaches and pace of rural life.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We spent a lot of time researching different areas before deciding to buy our villa on the Silver Coast of Portugal. Somehow we kept coming back to this spot and never fail to be enchanted by the area, the climate, the local food, the countryside and the beaches. This part of Portugal really is undiscovered and just so 'untouristy'. Yet it is just an hour's drive north-west out of Lisbon. You wont find any massive hotel developments along this particular coastline but you will find beautiful deserted beaches, great surfing, fantastic local restaurants, wonderful local wines, big fat sweet tomatoes and olives and of course, lovely people. We love it and we know that you will too.

Unique benefits of the property
The villa is easily located on the edge of the village of Alfeizerao, with easy access up onto the A8 highway. It is set in a private development of 5 similar properties. The location certainly fits our bill for quiet, privacy and tranquility. Yet within a few minutes we can be heading off to the medieval town of Obidos or down to Peniche to some of the best fish restaurants in the country. A gentle stroll in the morning will take you to the local bakery shop to pick up fresh croissants and eggs for breakfast. The small, charming seaside town of St Martinho with its perfect U shaped bay has a unique, atmosphere all of its own. It's a great place for children to safely run free on the beaches. They don't call it 'The Children's Beach' for nothing.
