Meia Praia is 600m away with its vast (4km) stretch of white sands. Safe family beach offering water sports including water skiing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, sailing, snorkeling and beach volleyball. Near the fortress in town of Lagos is Praia da Batata (800m) - smaller beach with spectacular sandstone backdrop. Eastwards along coast are the famous grottoes (sea caves) and small secluded beaches popular with surfers.

Boavista 10 min drive, Palmares 5 min drive, Parque da Floresta 20 min drive, Penina 20 mins drive.
Travel
Faro airport 45 min drive.
There is also a train and bus service from Faro which arrives just a few hundred meters from apartment.

There is a host of exciting sporting opportunities nearby including: mountain biking, offroad dune buggy hire, horse riding, diving and snorkeling, big game fishing, paragliding, sailing, surfing, water skiing, windsurfing, kite-surfing and tennis. Microlight flights and parachute jumping from local airstrip. It is also an excellent location for bird watchers, especially during spring and autumn migration. Exciting boat trips can be made from Lagos to the surrounding transparent waters for dolphin watching and grotto trips, which explore the spectacular rock formations, caves and coves in typical Portuguese fisherman’s boats.
Historic old town Lagos still retains 5th century walls. Roman ruins still visible. Numerous churches and historic buildings. Europe's oldest slave market which is now an art gallery. There is a fresh market on the 1st Saturday of the month in Lagos, a farmers market (every Saturday) and a daily fresh fish market.
