Casa Perola was built in 2006 to a high spec and is situated in Odelouca just outside the lovely town of Silves. It is built into a hillside overlooking the picturesque valley of Odelouca with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside with its orange groves and the Monchique Mountains. Odelouca is a conservation area and is ideal for bird watchers and walkers. It's an ideal location for peace and quiet and total relaxation enjoying the Portuguese way of life in this lovely valley. The Valley boasts of a local baker who is just a short walk from the villa and also ‘Lydia’s bar where you can enjoy a coffee or alcoholic beverage whilst meeting the local people. There are a further 2 rustic bars about a 15-20 minute walk away and a restaurant for lunches. You'll often see jeep safaris going through the valley. Supermarkets, cinema, shops and restaurants are only a 10-15 minute drive away.

Changeover days are flexible. Arrival after 2pm. Departure before 10am. [negotiable with housekeeping] depending on bookings.

Kitchen: Modern kitchen with granite worktops, large freestanding fridge freezer, dishwasher, Ariston electric oven and gas hob, toaster, electric juicer, freestanding butchers block/wine rack. Dinner service, saucepans, glasses, various dishes, utensils etc.
Utility Room: Washing machine and clothes airer.
Living Rooms: Lounge/dining room, leather seating for 6, dining table seating 6. Satellite TV with English channels, DVD, CD player. Patio doors lead to patio for outside dining. Marble staircase to 1st floor, enclosed log burning fire with marble surround.
Other: There are a variety of board games, a selection of books, DVDs and CDs and also an extra DVD player in 3rd bedroom all for your enjoyment. I-Pod docking station.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
The property is cleaned once a week, linen and towels are included and changed once a week. Towels are for villa use only. We do not supply towels for poolside or beach. Pool man twice a week.

 

Notes on accommodation
There is air-conditioning in all rooms except for bathrooms and kitchen. The air-conditioning can either cool or heat the villa. Emergency lighting upstairs and down. Fire extinguishers. Parents are responsible for their own children’s safety whilst in the villa and outside area. Baby cots etc can be hired information supplied on booking. We request that you do not smoke in the villa and extinguish all naked flames completely.

Accessibility
Unfortunately due to its location Casa Perola is unsuitable for wheelchair users.

Outside
There are a number of steps leading up to the private oval shaped pool 10 x 6m, depth 1.2 to 2.4m. Which is surrounded by a sun terrace with loungers, sun shades, poolside shower etc. This elevated area enjoys lovely views of the valley and mountains. Patio tables and chairs for each terrace, portable BBQ. 4 terraced areas, 1 covered terrace. Large car park for up to 6 cars. Original renovated outside bread oven/utility, table tennis bats. The land belonging to the property is mostly terraced and mainly comprises of a variety of natural shrubs and trees including orange, lemon and Satsuma. The property is fully fenced and has gates.

Coast/Beach
Only a 10 min drive perhaps less to several pretty beaches such as Praia da Rocha & Alvor which are easily accessible or Carvoeiro, Marinha, Benagil, Ferragudo just a few of many local beaches all within easy reach by car.

Golf
There are many golf courses within short driving distances from the villa. The closest is Morgado Do Reguengo. Several courses in Carvoeiro - Gramacho and Pinta which are less than 15 mins drive away. The villa is also close to Palmares, Penina and Boavista all within 30 mins.

Travel
A car is essential and only a 45 minute drive from Faro airport. There are several car hire company's that operate from Faro airport and it is advisable to book your car hire prior to arrival.

Distances
Silves and Portimao are only a 5 min drive away. Monchique Mountains 15-20 mins away. Carvoeiro 15 mins. Lagos 25 mins. Lagoa 10 mins. Casa Perola is situated quite centrally to be able to get to lots of interesting places all within 10-20 minutes. Take a day trip to Aljezur which is a lovely drive through the moutains or take the easier route on the new motorway.

Further details
Silves the Moorish capital of the Algarve has a lovely old citadel to explore, Fabrique de Anglaise (Cork Museum), banks, shops, supermarkets, a lovely indoor market for fresh veg, fruit, fish etc. Several good restaurants/cafés.
Just outside Portimao there is the new Algarve Autodrome which opened in 2008 and hosts Formula 1, Superbike and other top world class events. While at Portimeo enjoy a walk along the promenade to the shops and also try one of the many fish restaurants situated under the old bridge, who specialise in sardines.
Caldas de Monchique is an absolute charming ancient spa town.
Lagos is also well worth a visit with its bustling Marina, which has its own parade of shops and restaurants and a fort. At Ferragudo enjoy a meal and drink whilst sitting outside one of the harbourside restaurants watching the fishermen at work and perhaps get a boat across the water to Portimao.
Slide and Splash in Lagoa is only a 10 min drive away. Also see the dolphins at Aquamarine only 10-15 mins away.
There is horseriding, surfing, jeep safaris, countryside walks, birdwatching all for you to enjoy locally.
Bike hire can also be arranged locally information on request.

Booking notes
A non-refundable deposit of £250.00 is required to confirm the booking. The balance is due 10 weeks prior to departure with a £250 refundable Breakage/Security deposit. Bookings made within 10 weeks of departure must be paid in full. Bookings 1 week or less from departure must be paid in cash. We always advise you to take travel insurance for cancellation reasons. We have come back from Odelouca and these 10 days have been great! Your villa is so lovely and everyone enjoyed the holiday! The weather was very sunny and the pool was delicious to refresh us (40 degrees under the sun at midday!) Even the neighbour was friendly and gave us vegetables and fruits! Camacho Family, France.

Just thought I’d drop you a line to say what a fantastic holiday we had at your wonderful villa. Everything was just perfect, especially the pool which we made much use of every day. About the owner
I live with my husband and two grown up daughters in a small market town in Essex. We live not far from the Roman town of Colchester with its castle and also a big Army Garrison.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We originally bought a piece of land 6 yrs ago and had Casa Perola built to our ownspecificatins in 2005. When we first viewed the land it was so lovely looking over the valley at the wonderful views we just sat there and closed our eyes and enjoyed the quietness of it all and that is what decided us to buy and build. We had to take down the old building but we did renovate the Old outside Kitchen and bread oven, now used as storage. Because we are on a hillside the pool had to be built into the side of it and so is level with the top floor and has lovely views of the Monchique mountains. Although we are rural in location we liked the fact you can get anywhere in about 20-25 minutes. We only started to rent out last year [2008] and so far all our guests have enjoyed the location.

Unique benefits of the property
Being only a short drive from the beaches is lovely for a early morning walk. Ideal for bird watchers and walkers. A really away from it all holiday or if you want a bit of the bright lights there is Portimeao, Lagos, Carveiro, Silves which are only a short drive away and then back to the tranquility of the villa. In fact the best of both worlds.
