‘Casa do Fio‘ is a modern bungalow in a small friendly village in the north of Portugal within a few minutes of the local village Terras de Bouro which offers restaurants, cafés, pubs, and village market. Stunning vews over the valley, mountains. Sun loungers provided, chairs, outside table and benches, and barbeque. Just in a few hundreds meters there is a private river beach which is ideal for picnics, excellent for walking and explore the countryside. Minutes from Villa do Gerês, Braga, Caniçada Lakes etc. At about 1 hour you have the Spanish border. Terras de Bouro is a mountain Council which population is lost in the memory of times, as establish several archaeological vestiges. The most remarkable human presence, however remount to the native people, like Búrio that gave origin to the region name, and the Roman People, users of the thermal waters of Gerês ridge of mountain and constructors of Geira (Roman Way). Visit Terras de Bouro and Gerês is connecting with a wide patrimony.

Porto airport is located a 1 hour drive from the villa (65Km), half motorway and half country roads, well sign-posted. Santiago de Compostela airport in Spain is a 2 hours drive (190 Km). Car hire is recommended.

Casa do Fio is ideally situated between the historical city of Braga (18km) with its ancient Cathedral and the Castelo of Bom Jesus with its monumental stairway interspersed with chapels and fountains. The therapeutic spa and outside swimming pools of Caldelas are only 7km away and the Canicada Lakes and National Park of Geres are also close by. The Municipal Football Stadium of Braga is approx 15km away.
