Ideally located to explore the beautiful Western Algarve. The village house with roof terrace in an elevated position is at the heart of Parque da Floresta (PDF). PDF is 15 kms west of historic Lagos and 1 hr from Faro. Sagres and the rugged West Coast are just 25 kms to the west. Hill and country walks abound and are organised locally. The main activity at PDF is the golf course which has a very active membership and all guests receive a 40% discount on green fees. Twice weekly competitions are held and guests are encouraged to participate. Other sporting activities inc. bowls, tennis and horse riding, all arranged via reception. The local area has a large and varied selection of excellent and inexpensive restaurants, with local produce and fresh seafood being speciallities. Details of all local facilities are covered in the guest book and the owners still live locally and are willing to advise and assist to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

Towels and linen are included (excluding beach towels). Maid service twice a week providing a midweek towel change and a weekly linen change.

 

Notes on accommodation
All three bedrooms are on the ground floor and have electric panel heaters and the two bathrooms both have heated towell rails. The lounge on the first floor has a woodburning stove and the dining area a further panel heater. With good ventilation, high ceilings and tiled floors, air-conditioning is not necessary. De-humidifiers are supplied for high humidity periods. The house is very family friendly and many activities are provided in the resort for the younger children during the school holiday periods.

Outside
The south facing balcony area off the lounge is well provided with garden furniture, portable BBQ and parasol etc. Stairs lead up to the roof terrace, with further sun lounges. The balcony overlooks the landscaped gardens and the central pool/spa and gym which is only a short walk away. The large and well equipped pool is for the use of Golf Village House owners and guests and has all the usual facilities. Ample car parking is directly outside the house.

Coast/Beach
Many secluded and sheltered south coast beaches between Burgau and Ingrina are within 10 to 15 mins drive time. Most have wonderful beach bars and well worth exploring. Salema being the closest at about 5 mins drive has an abundance of good local produce restaurants. The west coast has a more rugged aspect, big stretches of sandy beaches with rolling surf ideal for surfing. These range from between 20 and 30 mins drive, a must for the camera, especially for the wild flowers in the springtime.

Golf
PDF golf course is one of the most interesting and challenging in the Western Algarge and guests enjoy a 40% discount on all green fees. Members competitions are held twice weekly and guests are made very welcome. The golf clubhouse/spike bar and reception are only a short walk thru the old village and offers full pro. facilities inc. PGA approved acadamy with driving range and short game areas. The Pro shop is very well stocked and includes equipment hire and repair.
Other courses in the near vicinity inc. Boavista, Palmares, Penina, Morgardo, Silves, Pinta, Gramacho and Alto Club. Tee times and details of these can be arranged via golf reception.

Travel
Faro International Airport is approximately 1 hours drive. We consider hiring a car is essential to give you the freedom to explore this part of Portugal. Area maps are available in the house for your use. Should you require specific instructions from Faro to PDF, these can be provided.

Distances
The nearest villages is Budens and is about a 3 minute drive. Budens has a comprehensive supermarket with fuel facilities, restaurants and a bakery etc. All facilities in the heart of PDF are within easy walking distance with the exception of the main entrance reception and tennis courts which are about a 1 minute drive. A 24 hour ATM machine is also available at reception.

Further details
Lagos, is the nearest large town and has an abundance of interest for visitors. The town has three large supermarkets, numerous banks, shops, restaurants, bars and nightlife. From the marina and quayside many boating and sailing activities are available, including visits to the grotto's and daily dolphin watching. Lagos is steeped in history, the old slave market is now used for exhibitions of local artists. The church and museum nearby illustrates many centuries of influence from before Roman times and well worth a visit for the whole family.

A 20% non refundable deposit is required at time of booking and the balance is required 30 days prior to the arrival date. In the unfortunate event of cancellation, pro-rata refunds can only be entertained if the property is re-rented for the whole or part of the period.
