Casa Alan is a charming 1 bedroom apartment and an ideal base for exploring the lovely village of Alvor and all its wonderful amenities. In one direction, a 10 minute stroll to the stunning Tres Irmaos beach, with its lovely golden sand, beautiful rock formations, and delightful coves. In the other direction, a 10 minute stroll into the centre of Alvor which boasts at least 40 restaurants to choose from, as well as a variety of shops and pubs. The complex has an outdoor pool with children's section which is open all year round. There is also a snackbar/lounge which serves breakfast and light snacks at various times throughout the day and is open from 1st April until 31st October. Should you wish to hire a car, there is plenty of parking on the complex. A great location, coupled with the relaxed atmosphere of a small, friendly complex, creates a winning combination which aims to please you while staying in our apartment and to make your holiday in Alvor all the more enjoyable.

Notes on prices
The prices quoted for the property are in UK Pounds per week. A 20% deposit is required upon booking, with the balance due 6 weeks before departure. Please note that there is a separate £100 security deposit due 6 weeks before departure to cover any damage. This will be returned approximately one week after departure, following final inspection and providing there is no damage. Longer term lets are available. A discount of 10% applies on lets of 3 weeks or more.

Changeover day
Changeover day is completely flexible, depending on apartment availability. Arrival and departure times by agreement.

Bedrooms: Bedroom with double bed, 2 armchairs, 2 night stands, chest of drawers, mirror, and floor-to-ceiling, built-in wardrobe. Patio doors leading off bedroom to a spacious balcony.
Bathrooms: Large bathroom with bath, shower, toilet, bidet, mirror and sink.
Kitchen: Fully equipped kitchen with oven, hob, fridge freezer, washing machine, microwave, toaster, tea kettle, table and 4 chairs.
Living Rooms: Large lounge/dining area with 2 double sofa beds, 2 armchairs, coffee table, end table, television, DVD player, dining room table and chairs, Welsh dresser and sideboard. Patio doors leading off lounge to a spacious balcony.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
The apartment is fully serviced and cleaned prior to arrival. All towels and linen are included and are changed at the end of the first week on fortnightly lets. The owner asks clients to please provide their own beach towels, as these are not included.

 

Notes on accommodation
Our apartment is strictly non-smoking, including the balcony. For those clients who like to read a good book or two while on holiday, please have a look in the Welsh dresser, as we have a small library of approximately 170 titles to choose from. There are also some puzzles and games to enjoy, as well. Our apartment retains its coolness even when it is quite hot outdoors, and so the need for air conditioning is not a major issue. Aluminium shutters on the large patio doors help to keep the heat out, and when opened, the patio doors allow a lovely breeze to circulate through the apartment. For guests staying during the winter months or when colder weather sets in, there are two portable heaters available. The complex boasts a spacious rooftop terrace with panoramic views, including a wonderful view of the ocean.

Accessibility
There is a ramp for wheelchair access to the lift, however there is no direct wheelchair access to the pool area.

Outside
Chill out, unwind, and relax on the lovely, spacious balcony(7.3 metres x 1.73 metres approx or 23.95 feet x 5.68 feet) which has a table, umbrella, and 6 chairs. Why not start your day out with a leisurely breakfast on the balcony and then finish it by indulging in a nice glass of wine as the sun sets over Alvor? Ah...heaven.

Coast/Beach
The closest beach, Tres Irmaos (Three Brothers), is a 10 minute walk from the apartment. It is a large, sandy beach which boasts beautiful rock formations as well as delightful coves and inlets. There are plenty of cafés peppered along the beach, where you can chill out and relax while taking in the great view and enjoying the wonderful sea breeze. One of the owner's favourite beach cafés is Sol & Ombra, which is set up on a small cliff, in a secluded cove with its own little beach.

Golf
If you are an avid golfer, our apartment is ideally situated for indulging your passion. There are several excellent golf courses all within a short drive of the apartment. Penina and Alto Golf are the closest. Alto Golf is only a 3 minute drive by car and Penina is about 15 minutes by car. Other golf courses include Palmares, Morgado, and Quinta do Gramacho.

Special interest holidays
There are all sorts of wonderful activities to enjoy while on holiday in Alvor, and the Algarve in general. These include jeep safaris, boat trips, and dolphin watching, to name but a few. There are also all kinds of watersports available including canoeing, snorkeling, windsurfing, water skiing, and big game fishing. If you're feeling really adventurous, there is also skydiving at the local Alvor airport. Water parks such as Zoo Marine and Slide & Splash are also sure to go down a treat with the entire family. These activities can be easily booked through one of the various travel agents located in Alvor.

Travel
Faro airport is approximately 50 minutes by car. Car hire is not essential, although if you wish to go further afield and explore what the region has to offer, then there are plenty of car hire companies to choose from - either at Faro airport or in Alvor, itself. If you decide not to hire a car, the owner has used and can recommend a shuttle bus service to and from the airport, offering very competitive rates.

Distances
Silves, an important town during Roman times, which gained even greater prominence during the 11th century Moorish occupation, is approx 40 mins by car.
Sagres, where Prince Henry the Navigator came in the 15th century to set up his school of navigation, is approx 1 hour 15 mins by car.
Seville is approx 2 hours 45 mins by car and Lisbon is approx 3 hours 30 mins away.
Caldas de Monchique, a little spa town renowned since Roman times for its rejuvenating waters, is approx 1 hour away.

Further details
There are two well-stocked Alisuper mini-markets which are a 10 minute walk from the apartment. One is on the way to the beach and the other is on the way into town. There is also a pharmacy on the way into town - a few doors down from the Alisuper. There is a nearby hospital, as well - only a 5 minute walk away.
For those who prefer to do their shopping at a big supermarket and have access to a car, Carrefour in the Portimao Retail Park is on the N125 between the Portimao and Alvor junctions, and Leclerc is even closer than that, past the air field and before you come to the motorway junction, in the direction of Portimao. Both supermarkets are less than 20 minutes by car. There is also a Continente supermarket about 5 minutes up the road past Leclerc.
There is at least one bank and a cash machine in the centre of Alvor. If you go up the road to Portimao, this is a very built-up town, and it has several banks and cash machines. There is also a multiplex cinema in Portimao.
The nearest petrol station to our apartment complex is about 2 minutes up the road. There is also a petrol station at the Leclerc supermarket.
For those who wish to sample the local Alvor fresh fish, fruit, and vegetables, there is a weekly market held in the centre of town - usually on a Wednesday. This is the "Mercado Municipal."

A separate £100 security deposit is also required 6 weeks before departure, to cover any damage, and will be returned approximately one week after departure following a final inspection and providing no damage has occurred.

We actually couldn't get over the amount of space in the apartment - it was fantastic and the balcony was great. We had lots of evenings on the balcony as well as our breakfasts every morning.
