Sandy golden beach at Pedras del Rei with the miniature railway or from a ferry service from the quay. Beautiful tree lined Tavira Island by boat. The picturesque fishing villages of Cabanas five minutes drive away with more selection of restaurants, cafés. Bars serving local wine and fresh fish. The beach is a further 2 minute boat ride and has 3km of golden sand. Shops, Restaurants and Super Markets are within walking distance. Benamor golf course is only 5 minutes walk away. Bus service operates locally.

Changeover day
Arrival and departure dates are flexible (by agreement). Possibly we may not be able to offer access on arrival day until 2pm or may ask guests to vacate by 10am on departure day, but only if required for changeover/cleaning purposes.

Outside
Table and chairs out on the balcony for you to relax and watch the world go by. A shared pool is at the back of the complex with Jacuzzi which is exactly what you need relax and unwind on a hot summer's day. Toilets, changing rooms and shower room near the pool area.

Coast/Beach
A short 5 min drive will take you into Tavira, where boats and aqua taxi service will bring you onto the Ilha de Tavira, the island is perfect to spend a day. Fantastic restaurants and bars full of fresh sea food. Also 5 mins drive away is the charming town of Cabanas the beautiful sandy beach is also to access by a short boat service run by the local fishermen. 10 mins drive away is the small town of Manta Rota, the spectacular beach will take your breath away.

Golf
Four top quality golf courses are within easy reach; the nearest, Benamor, was designed by Sir Henry Cotton. Benamor: 5,500m par 71 (4km from apartment). Quinta de Cima: 6,256m, par 72 (7km from apartment) - voted best course on the Algarve in 2004. Quinta da Ria: 6,110m, par 72 (7km from apartment). Castro Marim: 5,466m, par 72 (28km from apartment). Lots of other courses (western Algarve, western Spain) are within one hour's drive. The new Monte Rei golf course is 15 minutes drive away first 18 holes, now open. This is one of Europe's largest golf complexes.

Travel
The nearest airport is Faro which is approx 35km away (about 30 mins drive). If you want to enjoy the best of two countries in one holiday why not drive to the Spanish border approx 30km away (about 20 mins drive) a further hour and a half will bring you to the city of Seville which always promises a eventful day. With so much out there we believe car hire is essential to make the most out of your holiday.

Distances
The town of Tavira can be reached by car (5 mins) or by foot (10 mins). This historical town is full of shops, restaurants, bars and cafes. There is a large daily market, where you can buy freshly caught fish, meat, fruit and vegetables. You are spoiled for choices on beaches Ilha deTavira and Cabanas. Both beautiful white sandy beaches 5 mins drive away. Tavira nature reserve 10 mins drive.

Booking notes
25% required at time of booking, remainder 8 weeks before arrival. Bookings less than 2 months prior to arrival - 100% payable at time of booking. We advise you to cover risk of cancellation in your own holiday insurance. In case of cancellation the 25% deposit is non-refundable; of the remaining 75%, we would repay only any part recouped by any subsequent booking for the same period.

The apartment exceeded our expectations. It was much larger than we had anticipated with good storage for our clothes and suitcases. It had all the appliances we required and was very clean. There was a good, varied selection of books and DVDs. Russell and Liz - July 08

About the owner
We are a Sri Lankan couple working and living in UK. We have two lovely daughters is attending university and the younger daughter finishing off her secondary schooling. We both have stressful jobs in the UK and love the laid back lifestyle in Portugal.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
Sri Lanka was a Portuguese colony at one time so we have had a lot of influences of Portuguese culture. We first visited the Algarve in 2003 and kept coming back to explore the rest of the country. We stayed in Tavira for our summer holiday in 2006 and fell in love with the old town so we decided to buy an apartment. We now visit Tavira when ever we get a long weekend. When we retire we are hoping to live in Portugal during winter months and spend our summer in Britain even though we have a long way ahead.

Unique benefits of the property
The apartment is situated in a lovely respectable area in Tavira. You are five minutes away from all the facilities but if you don’t fancy any of those you could still enjoy sitting in the balcony sipping a beverage and watch the world go by or have a dip in the swimming pool. There is a lovely restaurant two minutes away from the apartment all you have to do is make one phone call to Anna and she will prepare any dish at your request and call you when they are ready.
