Brand new modern property in a prime position just outside the city walls of Obidos, recently voted one of the 7 Wonders of Portugal. With two bedrooms sleeping 4 people, and a double sofa-bed in the sitting room, the house offers comfortable furnishings to make staying here as pleasant as possible for up to 6 persons. There is secure parking for a car behind electronic gates, and a sunny terrace to enjoy the wonderful climate. The property is within 1 hours drive of bustling, cosmopolitan Lisbon, and 15 minutes drive from local beaches at Peniche and Obidos Lagoon. This part of the Silver Coast is easily accessible, and the house is centrally located to visit World Heritage Sites such as Tomar, Alcabaca, Batalha and Sintra. Obidos has numerous restaurants and bars to whet your appetite, and is famous for its local drink Ginga, served in chocolate cups! There is always something to do in Obidos, numerous festivals and concerts are held within the city throughout the year.

| Bedrooms: | Downstairs, bedroom 1 has a king-size bed and fitted wardrobes, whilst bedroom 2 has two large single beds and chests of drawers. Both have full length mirrors and a hairdryer is also provided. |
| Bathrooms: | The downstairs bathroom contains a WC, bidet, wash basin, vanity unit and shaver point together with a bath with overhead shower and electric heater. The cloakroom on the upper floor has a WC, wash basin and shaver point. |
| Kitchen: | The fitted kitchen includes electric fan oven, extractor fan, child safe ceramic hob, large fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster and kettle, as well as a washer/dryer and dishwasher. |
| Living Rooms: | The sitting area contains a large 3 seater leather sofa bed, two further leather chairs and the dining area has an extending dining table and 6 chairs. A 32 inch Sony Bravia TV, a Sony Playstation 2/DVD player and a Sony hi-fi system that plays MP3 discs. |
| Other: | There is secure parking accessible by electric gates, and pedestrian access to the lower level using a videophone entry system. There is also access to a residents social and BBQ area via steps from the terrace on the upper floor. |

Towels and linen are included and changed weekly for longer stays. The property is cleaned prior to arrival. Please bring your own beach towels. |

Outside
The large south facing terrace is accessible from the kitchen, and contains a dining table, 6 chairs, parasol and two sun-loungers. There is also a traditional charcoal BBQ. Access to a residents social and BBQ area is via steps from the terrace on the upper floor.
Coast/Beach
There are many beaches within 30 minutes drive of Obidos: Peniche, Baleal and Supertubes for surfing fun and wonderful fish restaurants (10-15 minutes on the new IP6). Foz de Arelho with numerous watersports on Obidos Lagoon and wide open golden sand (20 minutes by car). Sao Martinho de Porto with it's safe crescent bay and family friendly atmosphere (a 30 minute drive). Nazare with its traditionally dressed women and dramatic rocky backdrop is a buzzing seaside resort (40 minute drive).
Golf
Courses nearest to Obidos are; Bom Successo (opening 2008) 10 minutes, Praia D'el Rey 15 minutes, Golden Eagle 20 minutes, Golf do Vimeiro 25 minutes and Campo Real 30 minutes. There are numerous websites detailing the courses and their charges. Please contact us should you need further information.
Travel
The use of a car is recommended. Lisbon is 1 hour (70km) by car. There is a regular bus service between Lisbon and Obidos, or the railway from Caldas de Rainha. Scheduled airlines include BA, TAP (Portugal Airline) BMIBaby, Monarch, and Easyjet. Porto airport is 2.5 hours (150km) by car. Scheduled airlines are TAP and Ryanair. If you have time to spare, take the cross channel ferries to Bilbao or Santander. The distance from Bilbao is approx 450 miles through Spain (we've done it a few times).

Batalha 69km / 48 minutes. Alcabaca -40km, 30 minutes
Fatima - 94km, 57 minutes. Sintra - 97km, 65 minutes
Lisbon - 100km, 66 minutes (Center). Constancia 98km / 56 minutes.
Further details
A large Supermarket, municipal swimming pool and leisure facilities are a 2 minute drive. There are further Supermarkets in Caldas da Rainha as well as a daily fruit and vegetable market and a weekly market on Monday. There are cashpoint facilities within Obidos as well as a pharmacy and local newsagents. The local Cyber Cafe is a popular meeting place for young people, in the main town square and is free to everyone. There are many bars and restaurants offering a wide selection of menus, some within a minute's walk from the house. Obidos is famous for different festivals held throughout the year including the Opera festival in August, an International Chocolate Festival that is held in February, the Medieval Festivals in July and the Christmas Festival when Obidos is transformed into a Winter Wonderland along with ice rink! There are numerous other productions of music and drama throughout the year. Take a carriage ride through the town and surrounding area, or bikes are now available to hire locally, with a new cycle path to Obidos Lagoon in the pipeline. You could walk the ramparts of the town wall, which is about 1.5KM, and there are olive groves just outside the far wall, with picnic tables and benches, situated to enjoy the views. Children love the Aqua Parks at Peniche and Nazare, surf schools at Baleal and Peniche, and wind surfing and rowing at Foz do Arelho on Obidos Lagoon. Take a boat trip to Berlenga Island for flora and fauna. Within an hours drive, there is canoeing on the Tejo at Constancia. The coast line, both to the North and South of Obidos and is varied, so you have the choice of good surf beaches or quiet family friendly ones.
Booking notes
Please book by email. A deposit of £100 or €150 is required to secure the booking. The balance must be paid at least 4 weeks in advance of arrival or deposit will be lost and booking canceled. A refundable deposit of £100 or €150 against breakages is required at the time of the deposit, and will be returned to you upon satisfactory inspection of house following your departure.
