Casa Jakatina is a luxurious detached villa in its own grounds close to the beach with superb sea views from the roof terrace. Large heated swimming pool and landscaped gardens. For 2008 Solar Heating has been fitted. Not only does this help save the planet it also ensures that you get excellent water pressure in all bathrooms even when two or three people are showering at the same time. Villas without solar heating rely on gas boilers which only provide sufficient pressure for one shower at a time. Although in a quiet rural area the villa is within easy walking distance to the local Blue Flag beach and all amenities including mini markets, restaurants, bars and a short drive to golf. The villa has an up to date electric safety certificate as is required by Portuguese law and this is on display in the kitchen. New for 2011 40" Full HD LED TV and Blu Ray Player with Bose sound system. Also Sony Stereo with iPod dock, USB slot for memory sticks and audio in for MP3's - bring your music.

Prices are for the property per week in UK pounds. As the villa is always fully booked we regret that no discounts are offered.
Changeover day
Changeover day at Casa Jakatina is normally Saturday and bookings are taken for full weeks only. However in the quiet season, November to the end of March we are happy to consider alternative arrangements.
| Bedrooms: | The master bedroom occupies the entire first floor of the villa and has a very large bathroom with a walk in shower and corner bath. On the ground floor there is a twin bedroom with large en-suite shower room and a double bedroom with a full bathroom. |
| Bathrooms: | The master bathroom also has twin washbasins a toilet and bidet as does the en-suite shower room on the ground floor. The downstairs bathroom has a bath/shower, toilet, bidet and washbasin. There is also a cloakroom off the hallway for use by visitors. |
| Kitchen: | The kitchen is huge with granite work surfaces and is fully equipped with a built in oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and separate drinks fridge, washing machine, dryer and dishwasher, crockery and cutlery and small kitchen appliances. |
| Utility Room: | There is a separate utility room, with a washing machine etc. available for the use of our housekeeper, Isabel. This enables her to carry out her duties without impinging on the privacy of clients. |
| Living Rooms: | The large lounge/dining room has a vaulted ceiling and galleried landing. The lounge is fully equipped with three sofas seating seven. There is a large TV with Sky satellite, a HiFi system, DVD player, video and a stack of DVD's, videos, books and games. |
| Other: | The dining room area is on a split level overlooking the lounge and has a substantial solid wooden table and chairs. |
| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
Our full time housekeeper, Isabel provides a maid service 5-days a week which includes cleaning throughout and making the beds. All linen and towels for use in the villa are provided (not beach towels). Isobel will provide new linen and towels each week. |

Notes on accommodation
The villa is named after our three children Jason, Katy and Tina. We bought the land and had the villa designed and built by Portuguese locals. It is built in typical Algarvian style with particular attention being paid to its position near the beach. All three bedrooms have patio doors to the pool terrace or private balcony and from the roof terrace there are extensive sea views.
In the lounge there is a large log fire and in the winter we provide a stock of wood. Background heating and fans are provide in the lounge, dining room and all three bedrooms. However, if required, air-conditioning is available as an optional extra. This has been installed in the lounge and the three bedrooms and provides instant warm air in the winter as well as cool air in the summer.
The villa has been built with our eight grandchildren very much in mind and as such it is extremely suitable for family holidays.
Accessibility
The villa has not been specifically adapted for wheelchair users but there are only several small steps to negotiate.
Outside
The swimming pool is a substantial 11x5ms with a cold outdoor shower. There is a heat pump and for additional charge you can enjoy warm water all year round. The gardens are fully landscaped. At the front of the villa there is a dining table and 6 chairs (will easily take 8) and there is a choice of 7 loungers with comfortable mattresses. At the rear is a separate terraced area adjacent to the kitchen with a circular granite dining table, six chairs and a floodlit fountain. This is particularly useful if you wish to escape from the sun and sea breezes.
On the first floor balcony thre is a further table and four chairs and on the roof terrace there is a pergola and yet more outdoor furniture to enable you to take advantage of the superb views and the late evening sun. A brick built BBQ provides the opportunity to sample your skills at grilling the fresh fish available at the fish market in Albufeira.
Coast/Beach
The local beach, Praia da Coelha, is absolutely beautiful being relatively small and surrounded by cliffs and interesting rock formations. The cliffs themselves are unspoilt and you can go for short or long walks to other local beaches and beach bars in both directions.
Coelha beach has its own small beach bar run by Joachim and his son Louis. The meals are simple but tasty with Joachim buying fresh from the local market every morning.
Golf
The nearest golf course is Salgados about five minutes drive. However the villa is ideally situated to enable you to travel to several golf couses with 30 minutes drive including Penina, Gramacho and the Vilamoura courses. There is a map of all golf courses and contact numbers at the villa and most will provide excellent deals on green fees if you book ahead via the internet.
Travel
The nearest airport is Faro, about 35mins drive. It is a very easy drive mainly on motorway and full directions are provided. Details of recommended car hire are available on request.
If you prefer we can arrange airport transfer to and from the villa at around €45 each way.
Distances
The villa is in a quiet rural location although there are three minimarkets within very easy walking distance. There are also several excellent restaurants within walking/staggering distance and a map of these with recommendations and telephone numbers are provided.
Albufeira is about 3km away and is walkable if you are a keen hiker and you can always get a bus or taxi back to the villa.
Essentially the villa is so well positioned that a car is not essential.
Further details
There is a very upmarket Swiss development to the right front of the villa called Hapimag. Hapimag has a shop with a delicatessen which also sells British newspapers. There is also a hole in the wall. You are welcome to use the restaurant which often has special evenings with entertainment. Quality is excellent. Hapimag has two tennis courts, which you can see from the villa and the courts plus all the necessary equipment are available to hire from reception.
Normally the day after arrival clients will be visited by our local agent, Tracey Westacott. She will answer any questions you have to raise and will act as an emergency contact if required. There is a folder in the villa giving details of local english speaking doctors, clinics etc.
Booking notes
On receipt of your firm enquiry you will be sent a booking form by e-mail. This will request full details and a 20% deposit. The balance is due 8 weeks before the date of first date of the holiday. Tip - Always go for villas with loads of bookings. This means returning customers who should know best. Casa Jakatina has excellent bookings year after year and is always full during the peak season..

About the owner
My wife, Sue and myself, Steve, live in Hitchin, North Hertfordshire although we were both born in Merseyside. Being retired we spend at least three months of the year at the villa. It has proved to be a wonderful investment and has enabled us to enjoy the company of our many friends and family. Our three children and their wife/ husbands have been regular visitors and our eight grandchildren aged 3 to 15 view it as their own holiday home. They have all learned to swim in the heated pool and the villa has been designed very much to cater for them. We have made many friends in the Algarve and two years ago I was elected Chairman of the Algarve 41 Club. We are very well known locally and anyone staying at Casa Jakatina will receive a warm welcome.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
In May 1986 I travelled to Portugal with a friend with a view to buying land to build a property. After having seen and rejected several plots in other parts of the Algarve we arrived at Sesmarias one sunny afternoon. A short stroll to the beach 5 minutes away confirmed that it was just what we had been looking for. Twelve plots were available but none had been sold so we were able to pick the best. The next day we paid a deposit and signed contracts confident that we had bought land in one of the most attractive areas of the Algarve and uniquely close to the sea. We then hired a local architect to design the villa. After planning permission had been obtained we held a beauty parade of builders with the contract going to Vitor Martins who runs the estate agency in Albufeira.
Unique benefits of the property
Very few villas on the Algarve are so well placed as Casa Jakatina. Although the area is quiet and unspoilt all amenities are within easy walking distance including mini markets for shopping, several restaurants and, of course, the beach bar. Our friends Joachim and Maria and their son Louis will make any visitors to the beach bar warmly welcome. In addition to drinks they also serve excellent quality food (fish fresh each day) with views than can only be described as stunning. We regard the villa as our second home and as such it is maintained in first class condition regardless of cost. After many years of renting and following positive feedback from a large number of clients we now believe that we offer the perfect package for a relaxed and enjoyable holiday.
