Tavira Garden is perfect for those seeking a relaxing stay in the unspoiled Eastern Algarve. The spacious well-designed buildings are surrounded by extensive immaculate mature gardens with palm, carob and olive trees, shrubs, flowers & grassed areas. Facilities include 2 large pools each with adjoining children's pool and surrounded by sun loungers and shade if required, football/tennis court, gymnasium, children's playground, TV lounge, office (open Mon-Fri, English spoken) restaurant/bar with inside & outside dining, BBQ area, ample parking. This bright and comfortable apartment was recently completely redecorated, re-furnished and re-equipped by us. It is double glazed and air-conditioned. The windows and large balcony overlook a well-kept pretty garden area, easily reached by 3 steps from our balcony for relaxing and sunbathing. Tavira, and the nearby little coastal villages, have magnificent huge clean sandy beaches with EC Blue Flag status, never overcrowded even in summer.

Notes on prices
Rental prices slashed for 2012! Payment may be made in £/Sterling if required. For bookings of more than one week the price for odd days is calculated pro-rata the weekly rate. Special price for long-term winter lets November-March (minimum booking 3 weeks) at 135 Euros per week, which includes electricity, water, bed linen, towels for bathroom and kitchen and linen changes every 7 days.
Changeover day
Arrival and departure days are fully flexible. Access on arrival generally by 4:00pm, and check-out on departure day generally by 11:00am - but these times are more flexible whenever our other clients' bookings permit. Luggage storage is available.

Property cleaned to a high standard prior to clients' arrival and after departure. Prices include all bed linen, bathroom towels and kitchen towels. We live very close, and always deal personally and quickly with any clients' queries during their stay. |
Notes on accommodation
This apartment is fully and legally licenced for letting by Tavira Council and the Health & Safety Authority. The apartment has fire extinguishers and a fire blanket. There is no gas in this building. The apartment has a hairdryer, comprehensive information folder, selection of books. It's perfect for winter holidays as well as summer as it has cavity wall insulation, double glazed windows and heaters (including bathroom), plus the air-conditioning heats for winter use as well as cools for summertime. We ask clients to smoke only in the outside areas, not inside the apartment. Good quality pool/beach towels may be hired from us, price 3 Euros per towel per stay. There's a small charge for use of the gym and football/tennis court on the complex - also for the tumble dryer in Tavira Garden's laundry which may be used by guests. Internet facilities are available at several places in Tavira town, and Tavira Garden's reception and adjoining lounge is a WiFi zone (free for our clients).

Accessibility
This apartment is on the ground floor and is all on one level, so is suitable for people with difficulty climbing stairs.
Outside
The apartment has a large balcony with table and chairs. Three shallow steps down from the balcony take you to the pretty, well-kept garden area in front of the apartment, where you may relax and sunbathe in the comfortable new sun loungers which we supply for the exclusive use of our clients. All facilities at Tavira Garden (ie swimming pools, tennis courts, children's playground, barbecue area, extensive gardens, etc) may be used by everyone staying on the complex. There is access to two large roof terraces shared with the other occupants of this building - but hardly ever visited by anyone else - with stunning views to the Ria Formosa nature reserve and the sea.
Tavira Beach was recently named by the Lonely Planet as one of the top ten beaches in the world!
Coast/Beach
This coastline is within the Ria Formosa National Park, a World Heritage site. Tavira's magnificent huge clean sandy beach, 12km long, is uncrowded even in summer - reached by a delightful short ferry trip across the lagoon from Tavira harbour or from the marina. There are several good restaurants on the beach and parasols/sun loungers to hire. There are many other huge clean sandy beaches nearby, all quite undiscovered by tourists. This stretch of coast has the warmest sea in Portugal.
Golf
Several top quality golf courses are within easy reach. The nearest, Benamor (5,500 metres par 71), was designed by Sir Henry Cotton and is just 4km from Tavira Garden. Other nearby courses include Quinta de Cima, 6,256 metres par 72; Quinta da Ria, 6,110 metres par 72 (both 7km from Tavira Garden); Castro Marim, 5,466 metres par 72 (25km from Tavira Garden). Two new prestigious golf complexes are also very near - Jack Nicklaus's Monte Rei is approx 15 minutes drive, and Sevi Ballesteros's Quinta do Vale is approx 20 minutes drive. Lots of other courses in western Spain and the western Algarve are within one hour's drive. Golf club hire is available, to collect at Faro Airport on arrival. Price from 35 Euros per set per week.
Special interest holidays
Private boat trips for fishing, bird watching etc. We can organise private boat trips for you, completely tailor-made to suit your requirements and very good value for money. For example - bird watching in the Ria Formosa nature reserve, fishing, exploring the coast and islands off Tavira, meandering up the River Gilão through Tavira town. Why not visit one of the deserted beaches along this part of the coast, or take a boat trip to pretty Santa Luzia village for a leisurely fish lunch in one of the delightful and cheap little restaurants there?

If you are a cyclist or hiker, there is now a cycling/walking route from the Spanish border in the east to the western tip of the Algarve, with wonderful views and plenty of clean fresh air!
There is a kite-surfing school at nearby Cabanas (about 5km from Tavira Garden).
Bird watching trips are offered by a local specialist company. Please ask owners for details.
Travel
Faro Airport is approx 35km away. We can organise your airport transfers by taxi at discounted prices; we can also arrange car hire for you with a reliable local company, to collect at Faro Airport on your arrival - although a car is not necessary for the enjoyment of your holiday at Tavira Garden. Bicycle hire is available in town. Trains from Tavira Station will take you to other parts of Portugal and buses cover a wide area including to Seville and other parts of Spain.
Distances
You may wish to explore the nearby unspoiled fishing villages such as Santa Luzia, Cabanas, Fuzeta, Cacela Velha, with their uncrowded sandy beaches and quaint streets. The massive Ria Formosa Nature Reserve abounds with bird life, and the beautiful hills and villages of the Serra do Caldeirão are just a few km north, with stunning views and peaceful lanes ideal for exploring, walking & cycling. The Spanish border is approx 30km east, with gorgeous countryside, border castles and old villages.

This quiet luxurious complex is situated in the northern part of unspoiled Tavira, one of the most elegant and beautiful towns on the Algarve, abounding in Roman and Moorish history and retaining a rare unspoiled charm. Known as the Venice of the Algarve, and still a working fishing port, tourism has had very little impact here and the area is totally untouched by any 'yob-culture'. With its narrow cobbled streets and alleyways, ancient castle, old churches, traditional tiled houses and Roman bridge spanning the River Gilão running through the town, exploring is sheer delight! There are dozens of little pavement cafes and restaurants, many along the banks of the palm-lined river, offering cheap and delicious food. There is a large daily market selling fish, meat, locally grown fruit & vegetables and other local produce. You will find lots of small shops tucked away as you wander round the town, or for more serious shopping visit the new Tavira Gran Plaza shopping mall; then relax in the little park next to the river where local people gather in the shade to pass the time of day.
Nearest supermarket (open 7 days a week), approx 100 metres. Nearest bakers, post office, chemist, cafes, other small shops, cash point, approx 200 metres. It's a very short and attractive stroll from Tavira Garden through parts of the old town to the castle, Roman bridge, fishing port and harbour areas.
We live in Tavira and have been providing holiday accommodation for more than 6 years with much praise from our clients! Booking notes
30% deposit required at time of booking, balance 8 weeks before arrival. For bookings made less than 8 weeks prior to arrival, 100% is payable at time of booking. If payments are not prompt bookings may be liable to cancellation.
In case of cancellation by clients, the 30% deposit is non-refundable and we will reimburse as much of the 70% balance as we are able to recoup with a replacement booking.

About the owner
We are a friendly and young-at-heart couple who took very early retirement from our UK jobs in 2004 and moved to the Algarve. A few years before that we had visited Tavira for a short holiday and it was love at first sight! It's so unspoiled, quaint and historic, with the wonderful protected Ria Formosa nature reserve, the fishing port and harbour and all the huge sandy beaches. So different from the commercialised and highly developed resorts of the western Algarve. We bought a property to use for family holidays, but after a while we decided we'd had enough of the English winter weather - that was when we left the UK and moved permanently to Tavira.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
Before buying our property we researched and explored the whole area, and concluded that the Tavira Garden complex is by far the most impressive part of the eastern Algarve for a holiday apartment - it is so well kept, spacious, clean and attractive, and offers so many facilities to holiday makers. The pools are wonderful, and the gardens gorgeous! About 50% of the complex is occupied by permanent residents - so, unlike so many holiday complexes, there are always people around even in the low season.
We pride ourselves on offering a speedy and efficient service to our clients, from your first enquiry through to the end of your holiday, and our efficiency has always been much appreciated and praised by our guests, who say it's always so easy to book a holiday with us.
