Enjoy peace and tranquillity whilst exploring the countryside. High in the hills above Penela, at Loucinha is a lake set out as a natural swimming pool, with picnic and barbeque facilities, and a restaurant. Close by Penela, at Rabacal, is a well presented Roman villa with dedicated museum. Approximately 15 minutes by car, at Conimbriga, is a huge and extensively excavated Roman city.
