All the properties are nestled in 3 hectares of wooded hillside setting offering a magnificent panorama over the valleys and mountains towards Spain and the dramatic Portuguese Peneda Geres National Park. The gentle sound of the Rio Mouro at just 3 mins stroll brings tranquillity to the natural beauty of this Shangri-la. A river bar offering snacks is located at the picnic & swimming area at just 10 minutes stroll through the woods. The main "Spa" town of Moncao is 10 minutes drive. Here there are 4 large Supermarkets, Spa , Indoor Pool , an abundance of restaurants and shops fulfilling most needs. Restaurants vary from Portuguese traditional local cuisine,Brazilian,Pizza,Italian,Chinese etc . Locally there are restaurants and bars at most villages. Just over the river bridge at 10 minutes drive is Galicia, Spain. Here you can enjoy Spanish tapas, local Galician dishes and a wealth of Shellfish. The Portuguese Peneda Geres National park is on our doorstep at just 20 minutes drive.

Rustic holiday ‘family’ accommodation in this converted Granite Threshing Barn. Stunning views over the River Mouro that can be heard gently passing through the pine forest below. A large covered area with soft seating provides plenty of shade from the sun. Grape vines and clematis clamber over the paved entrance terrace, and to the side of the barn there is a BBQ. Ground Floor: Provides Twin beds in one bedroom and Single bed in another. Integral lounge / kitchenette with full cooker, cooking utensils, glassware, cutlery etc. Bathroom with bath. Downstairs: ' The Children’s den ' provides another single bed with double bed on a mezzanine floor (very low headroom). Bathroom with shower. ( Mum & Dad have been known to 'grab' the double bed... .but it is very low headroom !) We can place a cot in the 'Childrens Den' , as it is very cool in this room. Plenty of space within the 3 hectares of grounds. Swimpool: 12m x 6m partially enclosed area of 90cm depth for beginners.

A large covered balcony provides plenty of shade from the sun. Exterior table and chairs. Wisteria clambers over the adjacent granite paved terrace and offers lots of shade. To the front of the cabin there are 2 large granite picnic tables with 2 BBQ under the aged oak tree. The Lodge provides 2 bedrooms (1 double, 1 single with optional bunk). Integral lounge/kitchenette. Bathroom with shower. Pantry. Kitchenette has full cooker , cooking utensils , glassware, cutlery etc. Swimming Pool 12metres by 6 metres with partially enclosed area of 90cm depth for beginners

Acor Holiday Lodge (Sleeps 5 . 2 Bedrooms)

Comfortable holiday accommodation in this Scandinavian Lodge. Stunning views over the River Mouro that can be heard gently passing through the pine forest below. A covered balcony provides plenty of shade from the sun. Exterior table and chairs. A terrace/patio is set at the side, the large oak tree offers plenty of shade. To the front of the cabin there are 2 large granite picnic tables with 2 BBQ under the aged oak tree. The Lodge provides 2 bedrooms (1 double, 1 single with optional bunk). An extra bed can be provided on a sofa ~settee for a 'small child'. Integral lounge/kitchenette. Bathroom with shower. Pantry. Kitchenette has full cooker, cooking utensils, glassware, cutlery etc. Swimming Pool 12x6m with partially enclosed area of 90cm depth for beginners.

Courtyard Suite (Sleeps 4, 2 Adult+2 Child) )

Comfortable holiday accommodation in this 'Cottage Courtyard Suite Apartment´. Very suitable for young children as the courtyard is completely enclosed by gates. In the Cool of our Grape Vine covered Courtyard the Apartment provides The apartment provides 1 Double Bedroom , 'L' shaped Lounge with bunk bed available for up to two children (cot available). Diner / Kitchenette, Bathroom with shower. Outside there is a large picnic table and access through double gates to the lane that leads to the beautiful River Mouro.

Very suitable for Children as we are very 'family oriented' during the school holidays. No nudity accepted. No pets. Birthday or anniversary celebration while you are here? Coast/Beach
Portuguese beaches are at Caminha and Moledo approx 40 mins drive. Spanish beaches are at Praia de America approx 40 mins drive. The Portuguese Peneda Geres National park is on our doorstep at just 20 mins drive. Crystal clear streams run in the valleys, stunning scenery, its unlikely that during your climb to the summit you will encounter more than a dozen vehicles as the area is still largely undiscovered. At the summit of Castro Labreiro there are 3 restaurants and picnic areas.

Golf
Ponte de Lima Golf Course in Portugal at approx. 1 hr Drive. Monteriz Golf Course in Galicia at approx. 45 mins drive.

Travel
We are equidistant to Porto (Oporto) airport in Portugal, or Santiago de Compostella in (Spain) at approx. 80 mins drive. The drive from Porto airport is via the A3 motorway it is a very straightforward well signed road. Flights available from Dublin, Stansted, Liverpool, Heathrow to Porto (Portugal) and Stansted, Liverpool, Heathrow to Santiago do Compostella (Spain). Gatwick to Porto . Also Gatwick to Vigo at 30 min (Spain). We send you our suggested road routes with your booking receipt.

River bar at 10 mins stroll. Four Major supermarkets at 10 mins drive in Monção.
Salvaterra do Minho ....just over the river bridge at Monção has a fabulous park with play areas , tropical birds , farm pets , boats , picnic area , swimming pool , skateboard and Tennis , river walk. Valença at 18k is a fortified town with an abundance of retail shops selling many products from Portugal.

About the owner
We came to North Portugal by chance in 1993, adored the area, the people, the style of life, the rest is big History as we have been resident ever since. We own a tourism complex ( Property P3836 on Owners Direct ) and just 10 minutes away this superb lodge ( Property P10913 on Owners Direct ) This superb lodge was built and fitted out with furniture in later 2011 as an extension to the tourism business.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We were looking for a change of lifestyle and direction where we could feel free, somewhere with clean air and water, stunning scenery, good beaches, little traffic, and friendly people. We found it here it by complete chance. You can see the hills of the Peneda Geres National Park in Portugal from our property, also to the north the hills that form the frontier with Spain. We have two cultures and gastronomies on our doorstep. There are an amazing number of restaurants and of course we now have the big supermarkets where you can do a one shop. Airports at Porto in Portugal and Santiago de Compostella in Spain now offer a good service throughout the year.

Unique benefits of the property
Very family / couple orientated, we are not the place for groups that are looking for the high life. The Portuguese are excellent hosts and offer good food at very reasonable prices. Some of Portugals best Vinho Verde wine is grown directly in the area and available direct from the suppliers.
