Over the last 4/5 years our century old Quinta (farm) has been transformed into a comfortable home and Guest house. Our modest establishment provides individual attention and our guests soon feel very much at home. Quinta Essencia with its Olive tree lined boundary is located in Sao Pedro which is very near the market town of Arganil. It has all the amenities of a medium size town with various shops, supermarkets, hospital and numerous restaurants and bars.Although we are within easy reach of Arganil our aspect is one of being surrounded by lovely views.

Notes on accommodation
Cottage ~ self catering / B&B sleeps 2 people & 2 small children.
Open plan living area with en-suite and central heating. Kitchen contains gas oven and hob, kettle, toaster, microwave, refrigerator and table and chairs. Relaxing area has easy chair, settee/sofa bed and radio CD/cassette player.
Mezzanine bedroom is accessed by a spiral staircase. Bed linen and towels are supplied with a beach towel for each person. As with Casa da Boneca a welcome pack will be there to greet you.
The cottage has its own little courtyard with table and chairs and is an ideal spot to relax at any time of the day.
Accessibility
Quinta Essencia is a century old farm and has many steps, it is unfortunately, not particularly suitable for a person with a disability, where he or she has to rely on a wheelchair.
Outside
The private swimming pool (11m x 5 m) situated within a walled garden is available to all residents. The spacious patio with sun lounges and shades leads to the terrace room where you can sit and relax in all weathers. The bar in the terrace room is available to all and has a stocked chiller unit where beers and soft drinks can be purchased at reasonable prices.
The south facing garden is a restful area with lovely views across Arganil to the foot of the Serra de Acor hills.
Coast/Beach
The Silver coast is a fantastic stretch of sandy beaches which starts at Aveiro and carries on down to the north of Lisbon. Our favorite and nearest beaches are Praia de Mira, Praia da Tocha and Figueira da Foz. All these beaches can be reached within 1.5 hours. Figueira is a bigger town than the other two and hosts a casino and cinemas.
Golf
The nearest golf course to Arganil is situated in Viseu which is approximately a 1 hour drive and very easy to get to.
Skiing
Serra da Estrela (mountain of stars) is a popular destinations for skiers and sightseers during the winter months and can easily be reached within 1.5 hours.
Travel
Porto airport is approximately 100 miles away is has good access via the A1 motorway. Lisbon airport is approximately 156 miles away and again has good access via the A1 motorway.
I supply a comprehensive standard letter on request, with directions to Quinta Essencia, driving from either, Porto or Lisbon. If you're driving from the Channel or northern Spain I will give you directions from the Portuguese/Spanish border. If you are hiring a car from either airport always book on line.
Further details
As an alternative excursion to the lovely beaches, there is a local beauty spot (30 minute drive from the farm) called Senhora da Riberia (Lady of the Lake) and is situated near the town of Tabua. The Lake is absolutely enormous and continues for many miles and eventually joins the river Mondego which flows through the city of Coimbra. The favorite spots around the lake are safe for swimming and canoeing with pedlos for hire every afternoon. There are restuarants and bars nearby but, it's nice to take a picnic, sit and relax and obsorb the beautiful scenery.
A visit to the city of Coimbra is well recommended which can easily be reached within one hour. Once parked up, a walk through the old town reveals the quaint passageways, shops and attractive architecture. This university city is third city of Portugal and hosts the oldest library in Europe. After shopping and sightseeing, a visit to one of the restuarants that line the river Mongeo is restful with lovely views of the city.
