Monte do Sol is a delightful single storey, four bedroom villa located at the top of a hill in the private Montinho estate backing onto pine forests. French doors from the main bedroom, the dining room and the lounge open onto a covered terrace with views to the southern Algarve coast as far as Albufeira to the east and beyond Lagos to the west. In front of the terrace is a separate barbeque area with steps down to the pool area which has a bar and changing facilities.

Changeover day
Changeover day is flexible.

Towels and linen are provided. The maid works 3 mornings a week but additional hours could be available by arrangement. Linen changed weekly. English speaking property manager available for assistance. |
Notes on accommodation
Two bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms. Bedroom 1 has an air-conditioning unit. There is also a separate bathroom and a separate shower room serving the other two bedrooms. The garden is looked after by two gardeners on a weekly basis and a pool maintenance company cleans the pool every week. For winter lets, there is a wood burning stove and warm air ducted central heating. There is a TV, DVD, video, CD player and separate music centre and also a large range of books. Infant cots can be provided.
Accessibility
The house is on one level. However, there are steps down to the pool area and the garden at the rear is terraced.
Outside
The villa is set in a well stocked terraced garden with citrus trees at the rear. Guests are welcome to pick the fruit (oranges, lemons, plums, figs). There are two garages and ample parking. The pool is 8m x 5m with steps down at the Roman end. There is a variety of sun beds, tables, chairs and umbrellas. A charcoal barbeque is also available.
Coast/Beach
You are spoilt for choice. South coast beaches are 20 to 30 minutes drive away, Praia de Rocha, Praia do Vau, Algoz near Portimao as well as the old fishing village of Ferragudo. West coast beaches are about a 40 minutes drive. These are very spectacular with long stretches of sand and bracing Atlantic waves which make them ideal for surfing. There is a surf school at Aljezur and wind surfing north of Aljezur.
Golf
Morgado do Reguengo with two 18 hole courses is only 15 minutes away. Penina, Palmares and the new Nick Faldo/Christie O’ Connor course at Silves are all within a 30 minute drive.
Travel
Faro Airport is about an hours drive on the A22 motorway. Car hire is essential.
Distances
Monchique - 5kms. Portimao - 20kms.
Further details
In the Monchique area there are numerous restaurants catering for a wide range of tastes and appetites. All represent excellent value for money. Caldas is the local spa resort where many spa treatments are available. Monchique has a daily produce market and other markets during the month. There are banks, several mini-markets and numerous cafe-bars, especially around the attractive main square.
