Salema is a fishing village in the Western Algarve about 18 kilometres west of Lagos. Lagos is busy tourist town which has retained much of its historical character and still has a large and vibrant fishing market. There are many beaches in the area ranging from sheltered coves on the South coast which are ideal for snorkeling to the wild beaches of the Atlantic Coast which play host to regular surf championships. Salema is located within the Costa Vicentina national park and there are many unspoilt places in which to walk and enjoy the scenery and natural beauty of the area. There are also many tourist attractions nearby including water parks, golf courses, dolphin spotting trips and big game fishing.
