Casa Flor de Sal lies in the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve and enjoys sea views and a seclusion rarely found these days along the Algarvian coast. The 250 year old house has been renovated to offer tourist accommodation with true regional and historic features and atmosphere. You may be content just to enjoy the sun, pool, and peace. Otherwise, the wonderful, long, sandy beaches and the birdlife of the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve are close at hand. You can also swim in the Lagoon or cross to the sandy islands. The nature reserve is very rich in bird life and other wildlife, being the crossing point for migratory birds traveling between Africa and Europe. Children can play in the outdoor playground and it is possible to rent bikes at Casa Flor de Sal to go for a ride.

Notes on accommodation
The house can be heated by a combination of wood-burning stoved, gas and electricity.
The property is definately suitable for families with children, we have actually set aside a play area with that in mind.
If the 2 units are rented together, the door normally separating them can be opened.
Sorry, no pets.
Accessibility
Apart from 1 bedroom, all of the house is ground floor. There are, however, 1 or 2 steps between some of the rooms.
Outside
The 2 parts of the house each have their BBQ area. There is a large patio in front of the house, amply supplied with garden chairs. There is a pool, football/badminton pitch and childrens play area, all shared between the 2 parts of the house.
Coast/Beach
The nearest coast in the lagoon, about 10 mins walk away. Swimming is fine here, with warmer and more protected water than the ocean. Wonderful sandy Atlantic beaches can be reached either by crossing the narrow channel to the sandy islands in front of the lagoon, or by scheduled boat from Fuseta (3km) or Olhao (5km).
Golf
Within 30 minutes drive from Casa Flor de Sal there a total of 19 golf courses. All the courses are easily accessed from the EN125 coast road or the A22 motorway.
The closest golf course is the 9 hole Maragota Colina Verde Golf course in Moncarapacho (5 minute drive from Casa Flor de Sal).
Close by is also the Benamor golf course which is ranked in the top 10 best golf courses in Europe.
Travel
Nearest airport is Faro, 20km away. A car is recommended.

Nearest town is Olhao, 5km, with good shopping for most household requirements.

The wildlife the the Ria formosa is very rich. Apart from an abundance of birds, there are chameleons, butterflies and much more.
Booking notes
Bookings preferably by email. A 25% deposit is due at booking, the remainder no later than 8 weeks before the rental period.
A breakage deposit of €500 for Stork House and €200 for Hoopoe House is paid with the rent, this is returned at the end of the rental. Heating in winter (Nov-Mar) is extra, €25/wk for Hoopoe House and €65/wk for Stork House
