Balaia Golf Village is only 30 mins drive from Faro airport. 'Balaia' is a world apart and can make each day pure perfection, an oasis of peace, tranquility and pleasurable activities all in one delightful location. The low rise white 1+1 bedroom apartments/villas with purple and red bourgainvillea abounding, are set against a backdrop of pine trees in beautiful semi-tropical gardens. Golden beaches, water sports etc, are a short stroll (500m) away - the 9-hole golf course is in Balaia's own garden and 8 other courses are within a 20-minute drive. The 'A Varanda' & 'Le Club' restaurants and various pool bars all offer good food + theme evenings, if you do not wish to wander to the many superb local eateries. Albufeira is just 5 minutes drive, there is a reliable and very reasonable Taxi service available locally. Just 10 yards from the apartment there is a public phone and mini market. Rental includes passes to use the swimming pool for duration of stay.

Outside
Luxuriant gardens and vegetation. Outside living is catered for, barbecues are usually allowed. The Village has 6 pools (2 heated), Golf, Tennis, Croquet, Boules, Table tennis, children's play area - a Kids Club in high/peak seasons. The Health Club provides heated pool, jacuzzi, steam room and gym. There is a shopping terrace with mini-market, newsagents, hairdresser and beautician.

Coast/Beach
The local Marie-Luisa and Santa Eulalia beaches are close by, approx a 10 and 20 min walk; the walk to Marie-Luisa beach may not be suitable for those with mobility problems; water sports, fish restaurant/bar. The golden sandy beach of Santa Eulalia is within easy walking distance (c.1km away).
Olhos d'Agua, a traditional fishing village where fishermen still tend their nets is close by. Oura beach offers a Diving Centre.
300m from the lovely beach of Sesmarias, if you walk along the cliff.

Golf
Balaia's 9 hole executive Course with Clubhouse and shop totals 984m. Driving Range, putting green; lessons; hire of clubs etc. Some of the finest championship golf courses are within a 10/20 minute drive. 'Proper' shoes/dress are required for the 9-hole golf course, handicap Certificate NOT 'always' essential. Salgados Golf course is about 10 minutes drive. Vale do Lobo has two championship golf courses within the resort. There is also a choice of golf courses within the nearby resorts of Quinta do Lago and Vilamoura is about 20 minutes drive.

Special interest holidays
A whole range of excursions and leisure activities can be booked locally including water parks, Zoomarine, scuba-diving, fishing, sailing, horse riding, bicycle/moped hire and much more. A whole range of bars, shops, restaurants, supermarkets and the local indoor fruit and vegetable market are on the doorstep.

Travel
Faro airport is 35km west and approx 30 mins drive away. Transfers from or to the Airport can be pre-booked. Car hire is not essential but useful. A shuttle bus from reception goes to Albufeira and Vilamoura. Local-bus stop outside the main Balaia entrance serving local areas. Taxis can be requested at reception.

Distances
Albufiera with its busy night life is only 5 minutes drive, soak in the atmosphere of the old town. There are so many restaurants, bars and clubs, catering for all tastes and budgets. There are numerous trips to so many beautiful villages and fishing communities, boat trips, sailing and watersports. These can be done independently or booked locally.

Further details
There is a 24 hour Reception and Security service; Safety Deposit boxes can be hired at Reception which we recommend. There is a terrace next to the main entrance offering a mini-market, newsagents etc; other local shops, restaurants are all within easy walking distance. Vilamoura Marina, deep-sea fishing, etc. is only a short drive or bus ride away as is the new Albufeira Marina. Albufeira's 'Strip' and old town are a 'must' & only a 20 min walk via the back roads, or take the bus or use the shuttle or taxi.
Algarve shopping is just 10 minutes drive, this enormous shopping area is worth a visit, there are fabulous boutiques, gift shops, pharmacies and banks.

Booking notes
A 50% deposit payable on booking, the balance due by 8 weeks before occupation. Late booking discount of up to 10% but full payment is required upon booking. A separate deposit of £150 is required to cover breakages, etc. This will be returned within 5 days when keys have been returned and no losses or damages reported. Cancellation charges (before occupation due): More than 8 weeks 50% of deposit, 4 to 8 weeks 50% of full rate, 2 to 4 weeks 25% of rate, Less than 2 weeks no refund.
