Spacious modern 2 bedroom/2 bathroom, ground floor apartment (slightly elevated). Large south west facing terrace with dining table and chairs, 2 reclining chairs, built-in BBQ. Communal facilities include pool, with poolside bar and restaurant, fully equipped gym with sauna and Jacuzzi overlooking pool area. The pool area is situated on the edge of the hillside directly overlooking the beautiful Burgau beach and its famous beach bar. The village of Luz is only 5 mins drive to the east, or alternatively can be reached by foot on a scenic cliff top walk from the village. The large and bustling historic town of Lagos with its walled city and modern marina is only a 10 mins drive away, or alternatively there is a bus service from Burgau, or taxis which are reasonably priced. The nearest golf courses are Parque de Floresta and Boavista (10 mins drive) and Palmares (15 mins). Penina is about half an hour away. Fishing and surfing are literally on your doorstep.

Changeover day
The changeover day will normally be a Saturday, however we will try to be as flexible as possible.

Bedrooms: Master bedroom with twin beds, flat screen TV, built-in wardrobes, remote control air conditioning and an en suite bathroom.
Second bedroom with double bed, fitted wardrobes remote control air conditioning, patio door to the terrace.
Bathrooms: En suite bathroom is equipped with underfloor heating, whirlpool bath, shower and bidet.
Main bathroom also has underfloor heating and a bath and shower. Both bathrooms have electrical sockets for an electric razor.
Kitchen: Fully fitted kitchen equipped with brand new top of the range appliances; cooker, hob, stainless steel extractor fan, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. worktops are solid granite. Floors tiled in traditonal terrracotta.
Living Rooms: Spacious living and dining area, air conditioned, with double doors to terrace.
tasteful decor with good quality comfortable furniture. Flat screen TV, DVD player, CD player/stereo. Stocked bookcase (take a book/leave a book!).
Other: All doors and windows have electrically operated shutters, the entrance door to the apartment is steel plated with a multi lock dead bolt system.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
Towels and bed linen provided, change of linen and towels and cleaning midway during 2 week stay. Extra cleaning and linen change available on request for small charge.
Please bring own beach towels.

 

Notes on accommodation
A fold out bed is available on request in cases where there are 5 people. There is also a sofabed in the lounge although for total comfort and space the apartment is really more suited to an occupancy of 4 or 5 people.

Accessibility
The apartment is slightly elevated above ground level, there are 4 steps up to front entrance, and unfortunately no ramp, therefore this might present some difficulty for wheelchair users. There are no steps within the actual apartment. The little village of Burgau is itself built on a hill, the distance of hill from top of village to beach is very short, but is quite steep towards the bottom. There are 2 cobbled streets leading down to the shore, one of these is less steep than the other!

Outside
Spacious terrace facing southwest, sun all evening perfect for use of the built in BBQ, patio table seats 6 comfortably, and there are also 2 reclining chairs.
Pool area overlooks the sea, and also has a small paddling pool for children. The health club and snack bar are also situated adjacent to the pool area.

Coast/Beach
Burgau beach, south facing beach sheltered by beautiful cliffs, clean white sand, perfect for families. 3km West of the village is the village of Salema, another pretty fishing village with nice beach, and numerous unspoilt beaches as you head further west towards Sagres where the old fort built on Europe's most Southerly point is well worth a visit. 3km to the east is the slightly larger resort of Luz, with nice sandy beach.

Golf
There is an abundance of courses in the Algarve, the nearest ones to this accommodation are Parque de Floresta and Boavista (10 mins drive) and Palmares (15 mins). Within 30 mins drive there is also Penina, Alto Golf, and new courses Quinta do Morgado and Alamos.
Green fees for courses in the western Algarve typically tend to be more reasonable than those closer to Faro.

Special interest holidays
There are many great surfing beaches in the area, depending on experience levels, the sheltered south facing beaches are suited to beginners/improvers, but within 20 mins drive to the west, you reach the more exposed beaches and surfers paradise. There is a surf school in the village of Burgau, and with the school you can travel to the various beaches in the area.

Travel
Faro aiport is 1hr drive, on the A22, (90% of journey is on the motorway). Many companies run mini buses to the various resorts, a seat on the bus will cost between 20 and 25 euro, book in advance. A train service runs from faro station to Lagos, and takes approx. 1 hr. Lisbon airport is a 2.5hr drive, again a wonderful mortorway, which connects directly with the A22. There is also a good bus service from Lisbon to Lagos, although the bus can take up to four hours due to stops along the way.
