Sited on a hill to the north of the lovely town of Tavira, Alto do Perogil is a condominium of linked houses. The large swimming pool and well-maintained gardens are shared with the other condominium houses. There are beautiful views of the hills to the north and the seaside town of Tavira to the south. Tavira is situated in the relatively quiet and unspoilt part of the Algarve. The town centre, with its restaurants, shops and other facilities, is within easy walking distance.

Changeover day
We are flexible on changeover days so that you can go for the cheapest flights. The houses must be vacated by 10 am on the departure date in order to facilitate cleaning and linen changes for the next occupants. Sometimes this is flexible.

Please note these are non-smoking properties. There are electric fans in all rooms for the summer months and electric heating for the winter months. A cot and high chair are available if requested.

Accessibility
The ground floors have a double bedroom with 2 single beds and a shower room with wc and wash basin. Wheelchair access is good.

Outside
Large L-shaped private terrace with sun and shade, outdoor furniture and barbecue. Large shared swimming pool, surrounded by lawns for sun bathing. Plenty of car parking spaces around complex.

Coast/Beach
The Eastern Algarve has long, clean, sandy beaches, most of which are part of the Reserva Natural da Formosa. Ilha de Armona (just off the coast from Olhão or Fuseta by ferry), Praia do Barril at Pedrs del Rei (accessible on foot), Ilha de Tavira (accessible by ferry), Manta Rota and Praia Verde (accessible by foot) are all superb and within a 15 minute drive.

Golf
There are many excellent golf courses within easy driving distance. Four are within 8 km of Tavira: Benamor, Quinta da Ria, Quinta de Cima and Colina Verde.

Travel
Car hire is considered essential for enjoying the surrounding areas.

Distances
Tavira is approximately 35 km east of Faro Airport (about 30 mins by car). The town centre is only a 5 min car ride from Perogil or a 15/20 min walk. The fishing towns of Fuseta and Olhão are 15-20 mins away. The Spanish border is only 20 mins away.

Further details
There are 5 supermarkets in Tavira (Continente, Pingo Doce, Lidl, Mini Preco and Aldi), as well as the traditional market to cater for all your food and drink needs. Tavira itself has a good range of restaurants and there are many more within easy reach by car. UK debit cards can be used at all the ATMs and instructions are in English.

Booking notes
A non-refundable 25% deposit is required on booking and the balance is payable 6 weeks before arrival. Full payment is required if the reservation is made less than 6 weeks before the arrival date. When the balance is paid, a refundable UK cheque for £200 is also required as a deposit in case of breakages.

Owner profile


About the owner
Bill and Dizzie have retired and come to live in the sunny Algarve. They bought the condominium house at Perogil, on the outskirts of Tavira, as an extra holiday home for the family. It is a light and airy house which is enjoyed by everyone who holidays there. Linda Rees does the meet and greet for guests and is a delightful, friendly and helpful lady who lives five minutes away from Perogil.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
Tavira is a great holiday location in the Eastern Algarve. The town is historically very interesting and provides tourists with a good insight into the Algarve and the Portuguese people who live in the East. It has nightlife, but not the rowdy kind, and there are many good restaurants with reasonably priced menus. The sandy beaches are within easy reach and so are the many excellent golf courses. Providing you hire a car, there is much to enjoy in the surrounding countryside and the roads are quieter than those in the Western Algarve.

Unique benefits of the property
The condominium has 40 houses sharing the large swimming pool and surrounding grassed areas. August gets busy but at other times you can expect the pool to yourself if you haven't gone to the beach. The weekly rental charges are low because they have not gone up for years. The house is for sale. If you decide to buy the house after enjoying your stay, your rental charge will be refunded in full.
