Notes on accommodation
Bedrooms 1-3 and both bathrooms are on the ground floor. The stairs go up to the lounge/dining area off which is the kitchen. Bedroom 4 is on this level. Two glass-paneled doors lead from the lounge to either end of the balcony, making this a pleasant, light and airy space.
Accessibility
We wouldn't recommend our house to people with mobility problems.
Outside
Ground floor has a walled garden [size 29 sq m] with water feature table and chairs, and is pleasantly lit making it an idyllic place to sit in the evenings or to enjoy some shade during the day. Bedrooms 1 & 2 both have doors opening onto it.
First floor has a large balcony [size 12 sq m] with table and chairs and two doors opening from the living room making it an extension to the living room and an ideal place to eat outside as one of the doors is adjacent to the kitchen. Stairs from the balcony lead to the roof terrace.
Roof terrace [about 15 sq m] table and chairs sun loungers.
Coast/Beach
Isle de Tavira is a spectacular long sandy beach with many places to eat and drink, but it is long enough to escape the crowds even in the high season. It is accessible by small ferries which take about five minutes and cost one euro return. They leave from quatro aguas which is within walking distance of the centre (about 20 mins) though in season you can get a bus, or take a boat up the river, or for only 3 euros you can get a taxi which takes only a few minutes. There are also water taxis.
Golf
There are four good golf courses within 8km of Tavira. Benamor Golf, Quinta da Ria, Quinta do Cima (All 18 holes) Colina Verde (9 holes)
Travel
Faro airport is about 40mins drive away, the journey costs about 40 euros by taxi. Car hire is quite reasonable and for short breaks is actually cheaper than getting a taxi, though as our house is so centrally located there's no point in hiring a car unless you wish to explore the coast and Towns around Tavira or visit Spain. Whilst exploring the area is worthwhile, Tavira itself is the nicest place with the most to offer and our house is in the nicest part of Tavira, so why move?
