This new 2 bedroom apartment is situated on a small complex a short walk from the centre of the historic town of Tavira. The private roof terrace offers stunning views of the mountains, and the distant ocean. The historic town of Tavira is only a 5 minute walk, with its cobbled streets, small shops, restaurants and riverside cafes. The Ilha de Tavira,famous for its white sandy beaches can be reached by the Aqua Taxi located by the riverside. This is an ideal apartment for couples or a family, for golfers, or for those who just wish to relax or go sightseeing and to return to a comfortable base.

Changeover day
Saturday is preferable but we are flexible. Please note the checking-in times when booking and ask if there is a problem.

Bedrooms: Bedroom 1 with double bed, fitted wardrobes, air-conditioning and verandah.
Bedrom 2 with twin beds, fitted wardrobes and air-conditioning.
The lounge has a comfortable sofa bed which sleeps 2 persons. Bedding and Linen are provided.
Bathrooms: Family bathroom with full size bath and shower over. Wash basin and mirror, WC and bidet, heated towel rail and overhead heater.
Kitchen: With gas hob, electric oven/extractor, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dryer, dishwasher, microwave. Well equipped with kettle, toaster, crockery etc. There is a dining table and chairs to seat 6 persons and direct access to a verandah.
Living Rooms: The spacious lounge has a comfortable sofa bed, and additional armchairs. TV with Sky facilities. CD HI-FI player. Ra remote control coal-effect gas fire. Air-conditioning (heat and cool) and a verandah.
Other: The apartment is on the 1st floor and is serviced by a lift or stairs from the entrance. The front door leads into a spacious hallway from which all rooms lead off.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
Towels and linen are included with the property. Linen is changed weekly and the apartment cleaned on a regular basis.

 

Notes on accommodation
Cots and highchairs can be available on request but the apartment is not considered suitable for unsupervised small children. This is a no smoking and no pets apartment.

Accessibility
Property has the benefit of a lift from the basement parking area to the ground floor,to the apartment and up to the top sun terrace which is on the 3rd floor. There are a total of six apartments to the building - two on each floor - and all benefit from security locks on the access doors. There are ample parking spaces in front of the apartment.

Outside
The property overlooks the gardens and a pool is being built. It is hoped that it will be completed by the end of 2008 in time for the New Year. Meanwhile there is a small hotel within walking distance that has a pool and restaurant facilities and visitors have been made welcome there. The private roof terrace offers stunning views of the mountains, and the distant ocean. Basement garage parking is available and ample parking bays in front of the apartment building.

Coast/Beach
All the nearby beaches have the coveted EEC blue flag. white sand - safe with small tides where you can walk, swim or just relax, boasting some of the warmest water temperatures in the Algarve. Many are just 10 mins drive away. Tavira Island and Barril Beach are accessed by a small train or Aqua Taxis and when you get there you will find restaurants and cafes so the beach can be enjoyed for as long as you wish. You will always find a quiet stretch of beach even at peak season.

Golf
The Algarve is famous for the number and quality of golf courses. There are 4 close by with Benamor being the nearest.

Travel
Faro airport is approx a 30 mins drive. We can arrange an airport taxi or suggest a choice of car hire companies if required. A car is recommended but not essential as Tavira also has a train station and bus station both situated 5-8 mins walk from the apartment. The trains from Faro run at hourly intervals.

Distances
The Spanish city of Seville is less than 140km away. The A22 motorway is only a short drive from the apartment and connects to all of the major towns such as Vilamoura, Albufeira, Portimao and Lagos. The centre of Tavira is a few minutes walk, offering supermarkets, minimarkets, restaurants and bars as well as a variety of shops. There are banks and cash points in the town.

Further details
Tavira is one of the most unspoilt towns in the Algarve with the River Gilao running through its centre and spanned by a 7 arched Roman bridge. The town retains historic links with its medieval past with the castle standing watch over some 30 churches. The winding cobble streets are full of small shops and riverside cafes and a daily market offers fish caught that morning, local fruit and vegetables. There is a varied choice of good restaurants, all at very reasonable prices. There are 2 well stocked supermarkets in Tavira – the 'Pingo Doce' on the east side of the river and 'Lidl' on the west side (only a five minute walk from the apartment). The Natural Reserve Park, which is a World Heritage site, has many rare species of birds which enjoy the benefits of a large system of tidal lagoons. Tavira Isle – part of the Ria Formosa Natural Reserve – has many interesting species of birds and plants on its tidal lagoon. Look for the storks nesting on the high chimney stacks! For those wishing to enjoy the miles of sandy beaches the Isle can be reached by taking the ferry (only 2 euros and a very short distance across) or the ‘train’ across the causeway. Once there you will find miles of sandy beach with café and restaurants and all the usual beach facilities of sunbed hire and parasols.

Please check availability before booking any flight. There is a 25% deposit payable at time of booking with the balance due one month before the holiday. In addition we also require a refundable deposit of £100 (covers breakages, and electric used in excess of 150 units and will be refunded within a month of your return).
