Notes on accommodation
The villa is ideal for family holidays with room for children to play and adventure. Also well suited for couples seeking an 'off the beaten track' holiday home within a short car trip to lovely sparsely populated beaches, restaurants and the quaint town of Tavira. Golf on the doorstep and Spain a short trip over the border. Set in the hills in a small hamlet there is no passing traffic or overhead planes. To date security has never been an issue.

Accessibility
The property is on a single storey. The pool is set away from the villa down a path and some steps both of which can be lit at night. It is necessary to use the car to visit the local village and nearby beaches. There are countryside walks on the quiet roads around the area.

Outside
There is ample patio furniture for sitting and dining outside including a built in table under a pine tree and built in BBQ. The pool has its own large sunbathing patio with sunbeds and brollies and a shower. The pool is 8x4m and approximately 1.3-1.6m in depth. The temperature is boosted by solar panels. It is a salt based system which is kind to skin, eyes and hair - about teardrop level of saltiness - it is serviced weekly and will light at night till about 11 pm for night time swims. The area around the villa is fenced and largely left to indigenous vegetation with fig trees, cork oak and a variety of shrub plants. The villa is relatively secluded and nestles in a small hamlet of 6-7 other residencies.

Coast/Beach
The nearest beaches are at Manta Rota approx 5-10 mins drive from the villa. The beach is miles long, wide, white and sandy and forms part of the Ria Formosa: a protected area with little development. Along the coastline there are many areas where the sea comes into a tidal lagoon area which provides a more sheltered setting for young children. Trips out to sand spits are provided by local boat services: Tavira Island is a fun day out: the island has cafes and restaurants and toilet facilities.

Golf
The two superb courses of Quinta de Cima and Quinta de Ria which opened in 2000 are approx 10 mins drive from the villa. Superb views of the sea and coastline. Nice club house and great golf! Voted as two of the best in the Algarve. Monte Rei is a newly built 36 hole course approx 5 mins away - only opened in 2007. Also nearby is Castro Marim towards Spain and Benamor towards Tavira.

Travel
Faro airport is the most convenient and is approx 55km away. The drive takes just under an hour and is mostly on the A22 (IPN1) only the last 200 yards to the villa is unmade road. A car is essential and best picked up from and delivered back to the airport.

Distances
Vila Nova de Cacela is a local market town approx 5km away - it has all you generally need - fresh fruit and veg market with fish daily, butchers, bakery, bank, pharmacy, supermarket and a couple of restaurants. Manta Rota offers seaside cafes and restaurants. Cabanas (8km) is a popular holiday spot and has a promenade of cafes and restaurants. Tavira (12km) offers sightseeing - churches, old Roman bridge, as well as wide choice of restaurants and boat trips to the island.

Further details
There are plenty of beach and coastline walks and bird life is reputedly good along the Ria Formosa. Tavira is a pretty port city with many churches, Moorish architecture and small side streets to explore. A trip to Spain is feasible - Seville is approx 2 hours by car.
