This Portuguese vacation home is a long downhill walk to the beach Praia Adraga reserved for the hardy or a walk down and a cab back, and close to public transportation. There are also many other beaches nearby, as well as a large saltwater pool at Praia das Macas. This quiet haven is about 18 miles west of Lisbon and its environs. The coast and many other points of interest are easily reached by local transportation or rental car. Shopping can be done in the larger city of Sintra about 5 miles away or at the nearby villages of Almocageme and Colares, as well as at the little convenience store at the top in Penedo next to the church. There is a wonderful fruit and vegetable market, along the main road a few minutes from the house, on weekends and holidays. They also have flowers, sausage, bread and cheese.
