All 4 cottages are different in size and character, which have all been converted from the farms original barns and stables, offering the opportunity to stay in a character property in a quaint Portuguese village. Casa Meranka is over 100 years old and has been beautifully converted whilst retaining the charm of the old building and grounds. It has a swimming pool, gas and coal BBQ's, a decked terrace with sun loungers, gardens with table and chairs, marble courtyard and a communal room which can be used day and night to eat, read, play games etc. Each cottage also has table and chairs outside its entrance. Casa Meranka is in the centre of the village, within walking distance of the mini-markets, restaurants and bars, it is also possible to walk to Figuieras' stunning beach. The village is small and quiet, with very reasonable restaurants and bars. Many resorts and beaches are close by, Salema being 1.5km away, and many others a short car journey away.

Olive Tree Cottage (1 Bedroom , Sleeps 4)

The Olive Tree Cottage adjourns the Fig Tree. It boasts the same stunning high beamed ceilings throughout. It is slightly smaller however in our opinion is still a good size. It has a good size lounge/diner with sofa bed, dining table and chairs, TV, Sky TV and DVD player. Fitted kitchen. Shower room. The bedroom has both a double and single bed. |

Lime Tree Cottage (1 Bedroom , Sleeps 3)

| The Lime Tree Cottage has undergone major refurbishmenrt during the winter and is now a stunning cottage with a mezzanine bedroom. It is also situated in the outer courtyard opposite the Fig Tree and Olive Tree. It was originally the corn store barn and has high beamed ceilings. From the entrance it has a good size lounge/dining room with new tiled floor, sofa bed, dining table and chairs, TV, Sky TV and DVD player. It has a wood burning stove and a staircase leading to the mezzanine bedroom. It has a newly fitted kitchen and shower room. Table and chairs is situated outside the entrance. | |

Orange Grove (1 Bedroom , Sleeps 3)

| The Orange Grove is situated overlooking the gardens. It has undergone major refurbishment during the winter and has been extended. It was originally the Wine Press and has high beamed ceilings. It has new tiled floor throughout and has a good size lounge/diner with sofa bed, easy chairs, TV, Sky TV, DVD player, wood burning fire and dining table and chairs. Newly fitted kitchen, shower room and a double bed. It has a table and chairs outside the entrance. | |
Outside
All the facilities are private to Casa Meranka guests. There is a swimming pool, gardens, a decked sunbathing terrace, BBQ, and each cottage has a small able and chairs outside the entrance. There is the Garden Room which has additional table and chairs which can be used day or night. It is ideal to meet up with other guests for a barbie or if a group wishes to eat and socialise together in the evening
Coast/Beach
Figuiera beach can be reached by foot. It takes approx 20 mins from Casa Meranka through the valley using a country track. The beach itself is a large sandy beach and is usually very quiet. Many other beaches can be reached within a short car journey, this includes beaches which are renowned for excellent surf. Again please email any questions to us.
Golf
The nearest Golf course is just 1.5km away, many others are within a short car journey
Special interest holidays
We are surrounded by National Park making this an ideal location for walking holidays, it is also possible to arrange specialist walks with a guide who will be able to advise you on the local area and wildlife. Many painting groups visit Figuiera to capture the real feeling of a traditional Portuguese village. This area is surrounded by natural beauty and is also very easy to get out and about to explore the rest of the Algarve and the west coast, we are more than happy to advise on the local amenities and to help you plan your trip where possible.
Travel
Faro airport is approximately one hour by road. There are local companies who offer reasonably priced transfers to and from Faro. Alternatively it is possible to hire a car, which can be arranged from Faro or locally. Although it is not essential we would recommend hiring a car to really enjoy this part of the Algarve.
Distances
Casa Meranka is situated in the centre of the village. Figuiera is a quiet small Portuguese village, however other bustling towns/resorts are only a short distance away, Salema is just over the hill and is 1.5km away, other resorts such as Burgau, Luz, Lagos and Sagres are close by and the local bus service will take you to most of them. The beaches are all large, uncrowded and sandy, many are renowned for being excellent surf spots others are calmer, we are sure you would'nt get bored.

There are many activities available such as golf, surfing, horse riding, sea and beach fishing, walking, cycling, painting clubs, snorkelling, scuba diving, dolphin watching, water parks, tennis, if you require certain information we will be happy to investigate for you.
There are several restuarants in Figuiera, these are small and perfect to sample local cuisine, further restuarants are available a short car journey away.
Booking notes
For winter stays we will provide the first basket of wood/paper etc, for the wood burners thereafter it is available from us at an additional charge or can be purchased locally.
