About one and a half hours drive south from Lisbon, located at the heart of Sines old town in a quiet cobbled street near to the castle and the church. This traditional 3 -storey terraced townhouse has been fully renovated in 2006. The house is one minute away from the magnificent harbour view, and about 5 minutes walk to the sandy beach. Sines has small shops, cafes and restaurants and also a modern new Cultural Centre and a small mariner. It is ideally located to explore the Costa Azul with its wild sandy beaches and coves and the surrounding villages and small resorts. Local beaches are good for surfing and windsailing. This house is not suitable for elderly people or young people under 12 years old.

Changeover day
Preferred changeover days will be Saturday, but if possible we are flexible about this. We have a local person who will meet you and provide you with the key.

Cleaning/towels/

Clean linen and towels (not beach) are provided and are all cleaned and replaced after each tenancy when the house is fully cleaned out. |
Notes on accommodation
Movable heaters are in the house if needed. The house is very cool and does not need air conditioning, although a fan is provided. Some parking is available in the narrow street but can be also be found either end of the street a few minutes away. The accommodation is simple, clean and traditional but with a modern touch.

Accessibility
The house is not ideal for people with mobility problems as the original stairs are steep and the street outside is cobbled.
Outside
The house faces directly onto the small cobbled street and has no garden or back area.
Coast/Beach
The town beach which is sandy and very clean is just a few minutes walk down steps. The Costa Azul runs north and south of Sines and is full of beautiful large sandy beaches and small coves with good parking and swimming - plenty to explore in this protected area of outstanding natural beauty.

Travel
Sines is about one and a half hours drive from Lisbon airport or about two and a half from Faro airport. Car hire is essential for this house to get the best of the area exploration, although a bus service does run to Sines from Lisbon and the Algarve.
Distances
The house is in the centre of the historic old town of Sines, close to the castle where Vasco da Gama lived. About 10 miles away to the south is the small village of Port Covo with its famous small square with cafes and boutiques. Further south is Vila Nova de Millfontes and Zambujeira, both seaside small towns with beautiful beaches and small fish restaurants.
Further details
Sines has a new very modern cultural centre and is known for its World Music Festival in the last week of July every year. There are very good fish restaurants in the town and nearby, and a authentic safari park about 5 miles away. Plenty of banks, a health centre and all the usual amenities including small shops and one larger supermarket. The area is good for walking and exploring and is not spoilt by tourist building or over development.

Confirmation of booking will be made by email and the receipt of 50% of the cost. The remaining 50% will be required 3 weeks prior to the let. Payment is made by bank transfer.
