The pretty town, Caldas Da Rainha has a full range of shops, a fruit, veg and fish market, several hypermarkets and is famous for its ceramics (15 mins drive). The property is 50 minutes drive from Lisbon on A8 motorway. Inexpensive flights to Lisbon with Easy Jet/BA/TAP/Iberia.

Not suitable for very elderly or infirm - 2nd floor apartment - No lift.
Outside
Good size shared pool set in pleasant well maintained private residents' gardens.
Coast/Beach
1500m to Lagoon. Huge sandy beaches on the lagoon and the Atlantic side but close to shade and restaurants. The beaches have life-guards and there is a free bus in high summer.
Golf
Praia d'el Rey and Rio Maior (Golden Eagle) courses approx 20 mins drive.
Travel
50 mins drive to Lisbon Airport. Car hire not essential but highly recommended to explore this beautiful area. There are trains and buses between Lisbon and Caldas da Rainha and buses/taxis from the latter to Foz do Arelho.
Distances
The medieval walled town of Obidos is 15 minutes drive and Caldas Da Rainha is just 10 minutes drive. The seaside towns of Peniche, Nazare are nearby and further afield, Sintra, Cascais and the Lisbon area.
Further details
Local shops in Foz Do Arelho include a baker, butcher, mini supermarkets, Bank, ATM, Internet Cafe,bars, restaurants and a Jazz Club bar in high season. English is spoken in some of the above but the area retains its Portuguese appeal.
