The main house has two bedrooms, there is an attached self-contained cottage with a further bedroom. The property is not overlooked by any other houses and enjoys complete privacy on the rear and pool terraces. The house sits within almost 2 acres of grounds with its own salt water pool and is surrounded with almond, carob, fig, lemon, olive, orange and pomegranate trees and by ornamental flower beds.The property is a two minute drive to the IP1/A22 which is the main road that runs through the Algarve,this makes it ideal to access the many points of interest in the Eastern Algarve. The best beaches and golf courses are a twenty minute drive away. Olhao is the nearest large town, it boasts the largest fishing port on the Algarve with one of the best local markets with an abundance of fresh fish, meat, fruit and vegetables.

Notes on accommodation
There is air-conditioning in all three of the bedrooms.There is a combination of electric and a wood burning stove for heating. A solar panel with electric back up provides the hot water for the house.
Outside
There is an open terrace with dining table and chairs under the carob tree next to the kitchen. The rear terrace is shaded and also has a dining table and chairs which is ideal for lunch in the summer and a wonderful place to watch the sun go down in the evenings with a cool drink! The cottage also has its own terrace with table and chairs which has both sun and shade. There is a free standing BBQ at the rear of the house. The pool, 4.80x9.70 m, with underwater lights, is surrounded by its own large terrace and is entirely private. The pool house which is beside the pool has a shaded area attached, and also has its own fridge/freezer for drinks and ice. At the front of the house there is ample private parking, and a car port for shade.There are extensive gardens and orchards surrounding the house.
Coast/Beach
Several beaches are within a twenty minute drive including, Armona, Barril, Fuzeta and Tavira.They are considered among the best in Europe, being unspoilt and as yet remain fairly uncrowded. The Ria Formosa Nature Reserve is also within a twenty minute drive.
Golf
The nearest 18 hole golf course is the Benamor near Tavira about a twenty minute drive. Quinta do Ria,Quinta do Cima,Quinta do Vale, Monte Rei and Castro Marim are a 30 minute drive. There are numerous courses to the West at Quinta do Lago and Vilamoura.

Travel
The nearest airport is Faro, at approx. 25 min. drive. Car hire is recommended (we can help you at very competitive rates).
Distances
Santa Catarina 3 minute drive, Moncarapacho 5 minute drive, Olhao 10 minute drive, Sao Bras 12 minute drive and Tavira a 20 minute drive away. Spanish border 30 mins. and Seville approx. 1.5 hours.
Further details
Moncarapacho is an unspoilt and charming small town with a bank, post office, pharmacy, petrol station, supermarket, internet cafe and a selection of restaurants. Olhao is one of the largest fishing ports on the coast, and has a wonderful local market on the seafront which provides fresh fish, meat, fruit and vegetables on a daily basis (except Sun.) The Ria Formosa Nature Reserve covers an area of 18,400ha and produces half of Portugal's output of salt every year. It has the only remaining tide mill, which was used for grinding corn, and is still in working order. There are also large aquariums to visit with the local fish,clams,octupus and moray eels on display. The lagoons are a bird watchers paradise with storks,ducks,waders,etc and migratory birds throughout the year.
Booking notes
Substantial discount on early bookings made before Febr 19th. For bookings more than 2 months in advance of arrival, a 25 % non-returnable deposit is payable on booking with the balance of 75 % due 2 months before arrival. For bookings less than 2 months before arrival, full payment is required on booking. Payment in Euros or £. Please note an additional £150 breakage deposit is required,which will be refunded at the end of your stay. Please use the currency converter for the exchange rate.

We are farmers from the Scottish Borders,who were looking for a bolt hole to enjoy our twilight years. However, we appear to be getting busier as the years click by, which is why we enjoy Casa Galo so much when the opportunity arises for us to visit.

We wanted somewhere out in the country, but with easy access to all the amenities that the Eastern Algarve has to offer.
