In the beautifully landscaped gardens of the village, with mature pine and cork oak trees offering plenty of shade, are 6 swimming pools, 4 tennis courts, a Health Club with indoor pool, restaurant and bar and Balaia's own testing 9 hole par 3 golf course with superb clubhouse. With a small supermarket and the nearest beach within walking distance there is everything you need for either a relaxing or more energetic holiday.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the apartment for 7 nights in UK Pounds. All prices are for 2007/8 and include arrival and departure clean linen and towels. 2 weeks stays include and extra linen and clean after first week. Longer lets welcome and prices on request. Please note the apartment is non-smoking. Prices are as on this web page and not as stated on personal website as due to a technical fault they have not been amended this year. 10% discount on September/October bookings.
Changeover day
The changeover day is normally Saturday but depending on existing bookings we try be more flexible to suit your flight schedule. On the day of arrival you can check-in after 3pm and check-out is by 11am on your day of departure.

We have fully fitted air-conditioning in the apartment and this is provided at no extra cost. The air-con can be used in heat mode in the winter months and there are also wall mounted panel heaters in the lounge and bedrooms. |
Cleaning/towels/

The apartment will be cleaned on arrival and departure. Towels are supplied for use in the apartment only. All linen supplied. If the stay is longer than one week, we will include a clean and change of laundry at no extra cost. |
Notes on accommodation
This accommodation is very family orientated set in luxuriant gardens and swimming pools, with pool bars. There are 6 swimming pools, golf, driving range and golf academy, petanque, table tennis, tennis, children's play area + Club in high season. The Health Club provides jacuzzi, steam room, gym and heated pool. There is a commercial area with supermarket, newsagent, hairdresser/beautician and clinic. To cater for all the business clients, Balaia now can offer an Internet Cafe and a wireless zone where you can plug your own laptop.The whole Algarve coastline is one long sandy beach with numerous bays and coves. Maria Luisa and Santa Eulalia beaches are both within a 10 minute walk from the complex and offer sunbeds, water sports and restaurants.

Accessibility
Apartment is ideal for disabled as on ground floor. Also ideal for families with small children as the gardens are part of the lower ground.
Outside
Landscaped gardens with pine, cork and almond trees. Patio chairs and table for 6. 2 sun loungers and umbrella. Use of 6 shared swimming pools with children’s pools. Main pool less than a 2 mins walk from the apartment, heated out of main season. Local supermarkets and newspapers closeby.
Coast/Beach
The whole Algarve coastline is one long sandy beach with numerous bays and coves. Maria Luisa and Santa Eulalia beaches are both within a 10 minute walk from the complex and offer sunbeds, water sports and restaurants. The beach has bar facilities and good food (particularly fish). Marie Luisa is not really suitable for those with mobility problems; Olhos d'Agua, a traditional fishing village where fishermen still tend their nets is close by.
Golf
Balaia has a challenging nine hole golf course and splendid club house with driving range, putting green and practise bunker. There are many highly regarded golf courses within less than 30 minutes drive, particularly the championship courses at Vilamoura. Golf excursions may be arranged via Balaia.
Travel
Faro airport is 35km west and approx 30 mins drive away. Transfers from or to the Airport can be pre-booked. Car hire is not essential but useful. A shuttle bus from reception goes to Albufeira and Vilamoura. Local-bus stop outside the main Balaia entrance serving local areas. Taxis can be requested at reception.
Distances
Albufeira is a 5 min car ride or a 20 min walk away and is full of things to do, with plenty of restaurants, bars entertainment and shops. Balaia offer a shuttle service times are in reception. There are several local restaurants, very reasonably priced, within a few mins walking distance of Balaia, offering a variety of menus, in particular, traditional Portuguese fish dishes. There are several small supermarkets nearby for day-to-day needs.
Further details
There is on site security and management offering an excellent 24 hour reception, where you can change money, book taxis, book airport transfers, arrange baby sitting, hire cots etc. You will find them always most helpful. Reception also has an internet facility for guests.
Booking notes
A deposit of 20% is normally requested upon booking with the balance of the fee payable eight weeks prior to departure. Please note: Up to 8 weeks – no cancellation charge. 4-8 weeks – 50% of rate refunded. 2-4 weeks – 25% of rate refunded. Less than 2 weeks – no refund. Additional services, are available at an extra cost upon request, such as: a welcome food pack, additional linen and cleaning, hire of a baby cot or high chair and airport transfer in Portugal.
