A short 10 minute stroll takes you to the sandy beach and further along to the river estuary. The cobblestone streets of Alvor centre is a short walk away and has shops, restaurants and café bars catering to a wide variety of tastes. Although a car is not essential, it is ideally situated to explore the historical towns within the region.

Notes on accommodation
Children are welcome. Cot and high chair can be supplied. Smoking and pets not allowed.
Apartment has 2 allocated secure underground parking bays.
The apartment is secure with video entry phone in a small block of twelve units in a quiet residential street.
Full airconditioning with heating and cooling. All rooms have electric window shutters.
There is a ramp to the apartment block which allows easy access for buggy and wheelchairs. An elevator serves the garage and all levels except roof terrace.
Outside
Spacious (110 m2) roof terrace with furniture including table, chairs, sun loungers, umbrellas and barbeque.
The balcony has a small table and chairs.
Coast/Beach
Alvor Beach is a wonderful unspoilt, clean, sandy beach. It is a 10 minute stroll from the apartment. Along the beach there are several restaurants serving traditional Portuguese cuisine.
Watersport facilities are also availabe along the beach.
The east end of the beach has coves and rock formations for which the Algarve is well known. The salt marshes and river estuary to the west have been recently designated a Natura 2000 site of ecological importance.
Golf
Nearby are two of Sir Henry Cotton's masterpieces. The Penina Championship course and Alto Golf which boasts the longest par 5 in Europe. Many other golf courses are within easy reach of Alvor.
Travel
Faro airport is 70km away (approximately 45 minutes drive on the motorway).
Transport to and from the airport can be arranged at very competitive rates.
Car hire is not essential as bus and taxi service in Alvor is good and reasonably priced. All amenities are close to the apartment.
Distances
Alvor is situated between Portimao (5km) and Lagos (17km).
Further details
Watersports such as snorkelling, wind surfing, water skiiing and big game fishing, boat trips at sea and up the river are popular.
Slide and Splash, Aqualand, Zoo Marine and Jeep Safaris are also close by for the children.
Lagos, Silves, Sagres and Monchique are well worth a visit.
Large shopping centres are to be found in Portimao and Albufeira.
