The Summer House is sunny and light, with beautiful timber-beamed rooms, and a private secluded pool, set in spacious sub-tropical gardens. The Summer House - so called, because it’s where the owners used to spend their summers, before moving back to the ‘big house’ - forms the West wing of their large, traditional Portuguese country home. The superb Summer House is a completely self-contained part of the main house, with its own driveway, parking area, and gate, leading to its own garden, pool and entrance door. There is a cafe and restaurant within easy walk, and a sleepy traditional village 3 mins drive away offers a restaurant, post office, pharmacy, mini-markets, tavernas and cafes. It’s only 6 mins drive from beautiful medieval Tavira with its riverside restaurants, and several uncrowded golden sandy beaches. The Summer House has a wonderful tranquil countryside setting where you can completely relax.

The house is sunny and light. Patio doors open onto a covered area of the terrace where you can dine 'al fresco’ beside the pool. There are insect screens on on all windows and doors. Ceiling fans in all bedrooms. Comfortable beds, and plump sofas. Aromatherapy massage, Reflexology, Head Massage - visiting therapist available. Digital satellite TV (with BBC programmes, not Sky) & CD/tape player. Cot and highchair available.

Outside
The Summer House stands on hillside with magnificent views of vineyards, orange groves, and ancient olive trees.
Patio doors open onto a terrace which runs the length of the house, with four steps leading up to the secluded plant-fringed pool and sunbathing deck. The pool is approximately 3 metres in diameter and 90cms deep. It can be floodlit at night, and has a poolside shower. Barbecue, patio furniture and sun loungers are provided.
The house is surrounded by beautiful sub-tropical gardens with many exotic plants and trees: pepper trees, mimosa, carob and palms. The Summer House is the perfect place to relax and restore your spirits.
Coast/Beach
The nearest beach is 10 mins drive away. Beaches near Tavira are wide, sandy and safe for children. Refreshments and meals are available on all beaches, and sun beds with parasols are available for hire.

Three 18 hole championship level Golf courses, within 10 minutes drive of The Summer House: Quinta da Ria, Quinta da Cima & Benamor. (Please contact owner for details.)
Travel
Only 30 minutes from Faro airport.
Flights to Faro Airport with eg EasyJet, British Airways, Monarch, Air 2000, TAP, Thompson-fly, etc.
Also good flight prices with eg. Ryan Air from London Stansted to Seville airport. (Drive takes under 1.5 hrs, Seville to Casa Estella). Also flights available to Cadiz, & Jerez, Spain
Car hire is recommended to get the best out of the Eastern Algarve.
Distances
Nearby village of Santo Estevao is 3 mins drive. Medieval Tavira is 6 mins drive. Spanish border is 30 mins away, and Seville is 1.5 hours drive.

Tavira is a picturesque town, with narrow cobbled streets, beautiful riverside gardens, many restaurants, old palaces, castle ruins and ancient Roman bridge spanning a wide river. There is a large daily vegetable and fish market, a wide variety of small shops, and a good selection of river-side restaurants where you may eat "al fresco".
During the summer evenings Tavira hosts many cultural activities - from the visiting national ballet, and classical concerts in one of Tavira’s ornate ancient churches, to local folk dancing under the stars in the central gardens by the river.
Local activities include: Boat trips, horse-riding, tennis, windsurfing, waterslide parks.
