Quinta das Carrascals is situated in central Algarve, less than an hours drive west from Faro airport and perfectly placed for exploring this region. A good base for wonderful walks through the timeless countryside. Visit the historic town of Silves, dominated by a Moorish castle, and the Navigation Academy of Henry the Navigator at Sagres, or wander through the forests and up into the hills to visit the picturesque villages of Alte and Monchique. Quinta das Carrascals is a villa with its own pool, set amongst avocado, mango and citrus trees from which fresh fruit is available in season. No more than 30 minutes drive to many coastal resorts the villa has stunning, open views to the sea from the south facing veranda and easy access to many Algarve Golf courses. Carrascals is an oasis of peace and quiet.

Changeover day
Normally Thursdays, but flexible. On day of departure please vacate property by 10.30 am to allow for cleaning.

| Living Rooms: | There is a spacious living room with open fireplace and comfy chairs and a dining area next to kitchen and verandah. Satellite TV and CD player and an extra fridge for drinks, in the dining area. |
| Other: | All bedrooms have fitted cupbords with hanging space and shelves. |

Bedlinen and swimming towels are provided and the maid comes once a week. |

Outside
The house is surrounded by lawn, which is automatically watered by pop up sprinklers; and flowering shrubs and trees. There is a shaded section by the swimming pool, which also has lights for nocturnal dipping and barbecuing.
Coast/Beach
Armacao de Pera, Carvoeiro and Benagil are the nearest beaches - about 20 minutes drive. While the wild beaches of the western coast are just over an hour's drive.
Golf
Carrascals is within an hours drive of over 20 of the best golf courses in Portugal.
Special interest holidays
A good place for country walks and birdwatching, Quinta das Carrascals regularly hosts Azure Winged Magpies, Hoopoos and Little Owls among many other bird species.
Travel
50 minutes to Faro airport. A car is necessary and Hertz, Avis, Budget, etc., are available at Faro airport.
Distances
We are six miles from both Sao Bartolomeau de Messines, a typical Algarvean rural town and the historic town of Silves with its cobbled streets, Moorish castle and cork museum. Both towns have good supermarkets. The Algarve Shopping mall is about 20 minutes drive and boasts a multiplex cinema (showing the latest English films) and bowling alley, as well as many shops, perfumerias, and cafes.
Further details
There are steps down from the verandah so Carrascals is not suitable for children under 6 or wheelchairs. There is a portable barbecue and the 8m x 4m pool has sunbeds and a dining table and chairs for al fresco eating, for 6 people.
Lots of pottery and crafts can be found locally and eating out is reasonably priced with a wide variety of restaurants and cafes. Along the coast, nightlife abounds and there are many golf courses within easy reach. The new Silves, Pestana, course is les than 15 minutes drive. There are two 'water parks' and 'Zoomarine' a dolphinarium, aquarium and amusement park, less than 30 mins drive away.
